30 day long solo trek from Jiri to the Gokyo Lakes. Overall it was a very fun adventure and I was lucky I could take my time.
Attended AMS lecture in Machhermo (?) since the route sees many people getting altitude illnesses.
Despite the slow acclimatization, I also felt altitude sick when I reached Gokyo. I remember having a headache, slight shortness of breath and poor appetite. Turned back after a day or two recovering and felt like new once I was down. Always hike down when feeling the effects of AMS. However, this particular route makes it not easy to go down right away.
Lots of snow + insufficient eyewear didn’t help either. Lesson learned, bring sunglasses which wrap around/block light around the edges of the frame.
