Upper Mustang Trek

Dear all,
I intend to do the Upper Mustang trek in Tiji Festival 2017 (22-24 May). I will depart from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) from 13th May 2017 and arrive Kathmandu on 14 May. My current plan with consulting from my tour guide on the Annapurna Circuit trip in May 2016 is given below:
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and prepare for the trip (gears, permits…)
Day 2:Kathmandu-Pokhara [823m/2,700ft]
Day 3: Pokhara-Josom and trek to Kagbeni [2,858m/9,375ft]
Day 4: Kagbeni-Chele [3050m/10,004ft]
Day 5: Chele to Syanbochen [3475m/11,398ft]
Day 6: Syanbochen to Charang [3500m/11,480ft]
Day 7: Charang to Lo-Mangthang [3700m/12,136ft]
Day 8-9: stay in Lo-Mathang (Tiji Festival)
Day 10: Lo-Mangthang to Drakmar [3810 m/12,500ft]
Day 11: Dhakmar to Ghiling [3806m/12,484ft]
Day 12: Ghiling to Chhuksang [3050m/10,004ft]
Day 13: Chhuksang to Jomsom [2700/8,856ft]
Day 14: Jomsom-Pokhara (flight) Pokhara-Kathmandu (bus)
Day 15: Buffer day
Day 16: go home
The package price that I got from this tour guide is ~1500US$ for the whole trip start and finish in Kathmandu. The permit require at least two travellers and one guide so I’m looking for some partners to negotiate a better price if possible. I also look for the information and experience from people who already trekked this trail.
Thank you very much for your reading and sharing if any.

  1. Hello Huy
If you have the additional time to trek I am seriously looking at an extended route starting at Beshi Sahar (or perhaps Koto) visiting the Nar-Phu Valley, trekking the upper part of the Annapurna Circuit over Thorung La and then to Muktinath to start the Upper Mustang section arriving at Lo Manthang in time for the Tiji Festival. Tentative time frame is leaving KTM on May 3rd and returning on the 30th.
I have one other person very interested right now, but it would be nice to find a couple more to share guide costs and increase the group dynamic.
    Sound interesting?

  2. Hi Paul,
Thank you for you reply but I cannot do the trip during this time any more. I’m so sorry to waste your time, I will close this topic soon.

  3. No worries and absolutely no waste of time. Sorry you won’t be able to trek, hopefully some other time will be favorable for you.
    Cheers, Paul
