trekking companions

Hi There
My name is Amelia, I’m a 25 yr old Aussie female, looking to trek in Nepal from 4 – 6 weeks. My father trekked the Throng-la pass over 20 years ago and I am looking to re-trace his foot steps through his route, though if there are others that are interested in trekking different routes I am open to that as well. I am a fit and healthy person with good stamina and endurance though only have a little trekking experience so far. I would like to carry my own backpack and would be keen to find some people that are set along the same lines as me?!

  1. Hi Amelia, I am a 29 yr old American gal from Denver, Colorado. I am a family medicine physician and will be living in Kathmandu for the month of March 2014, I was hoping to do some trekking and was torn between the langtang and annapurra routes. The langtang is supposedly less crowded. All the guide books say not to trek alone so I was looking for a partner. Maybe we could do some trekking together?

  2. Hi Amelia/Meaghann
I am 22, from Sydney – looking to begin a trek at the end of Feb/beginning of March. I’m looking for a laid back trek and group to join. I was previously considering Annapurna circuit or sanctuary however i am not fussed on routes. I have no trekking experience but a high level of fitness which im hoping will suffice!
I arrive in Kathmandu on 21 Feb, so will be looking to start a trek within a week of arrival.

  5. Hi Meaghann, Annabel and Sunil,

Great to hear from you all. It would be lovely to meet up with you guys and organise a trek. At this stage I still don’t have any secure plans so it would be great to hear more of your idea’s and would be open to treks that you are interested in. At this stage I am planning to arrive into KTM around the first week of March so would look at starting a trek shortly after that? Love to hear more of your thoughts as to whether you’ve looked into costs invovled? I’m just finishing off a trip with my Family here in India and now have some time to sit down and nut things out. I would really love to just trek without a porter and guide, to reduce costs and I would like to hear what your thoughts are on this? Peace!

  6. Hi guys! Don’t know if you already decided what trek you are going to do – I plan a trek in the Upper Mustang in March 2014 (http://www.trekkingpartners.com/requests/upper-mustang-in-march-2014/) – you all are very welcome to join 🙂 If you are interested, just send me a message please. All best, Maxim

  8. Hi all – I will need to be back in Kathmandu on 17 March for an onward flight on the 18th – so let me know if this won’t work with your timeframe.
in terms of routes, i am open to anything. I’ve mainly been looking into Annapurna region, however im struggling to decide so am happy to leave that up to others.
I’d naturally hire a guide and/or porter being my first trek, but im not fussed if you’re thinking otherwise.

  9. Hello everyone,

I am very sorry to say but I am not going to make it up to Nepal now as an opportunity has arisen for me Himachal Pradesh which is too good to miss, although trekking in the Himalayas with you all is also a wonderful opportunity. I hope that you are able to get together and organize a trek for the people that have so far replied to this thread. All the very best 🙂 Happy Trekking!

  10. Hi Amelia,
have a great tour in India! Himachal is beautiful too 🙂
    All best to you

  11. Hello,

Me and a friend were planning a 1 week Langtang trek starting tentatively on the 28th. I’ve trekked a bit (Base Camp Kangchenjunga/Annapurna circuit/Poon hill etc) My friend is a newbie so she wants to take it easy. So planning a KTM-KTM 7-8 day tea house trek. It would be great to meet up and travel with some like minded travellers. Would also like tips/advice from anyone who’s done this trek recently.

Plan to hire a 4WD to Syaru Besi. Its a little expensive but with 4-6 people to share will turn out quite reasonable. Start trekking from Syaru Besi onwards to Kyanjin Gompa -Kyanji Ri and back. I reckon we can do this trip in 8 days. About us, we are two laid back pilots from India who love nature and a sense of humour 🙂

You can email me on menmymig@gmail.com

    Cheers!

    Krish.

  12. Hi everyone, I am Dao from Toronto Canada, 26 years old. I will arrive in KTM on Feb 25 and fly off on Mar 21. I am contemplating doing the Annapurna Circuit (shorter version, cant afford full 3 weeks) or another trek with similar length and scenery. Feel free to contact me if anyone of you has a matched schedule with me and is looking for a partner.

@Annabel, I think your schedule matches mine pretty well, if interested maybe we can talk 🙂

  13. Hi Dao – those dates do sound compatible with mine, however I have been making enquires about going through a tour company. A waste of money I know – but I’m looking for something hassle free, as I don’t know the first think about organising a trek! I am not fully decided at this point so will come back to you if I decide otherwise!

  14. Hi Annabel, I am still searching for a companion, so if you do decide to go independent, do drop me a line. cheers 🙂

  15. I’m from The Netherlands, 34 years old. I’ll arrive in KTM 22nd of February and would love to find people to start on the Annapurna Circuit asap after that since I have to fly back to Delhi on th 11th of March. I have done this trek and EBC before (about 5 years ago) without guide or porter just on my own, but it’s much more fun to walk with other people:-). Anyone interested?

    Ciao,
    Chiara

  16. Dao and Chiara – I’m back on board, deciding not to go with a tour company. Anyone else interested?

  17. Hi there, I am arriving in Kathmandu on the 1st of March and want to do ABC trekking in two weeks. Haven’t decided yet if I want to go on an organised trip or just plan once I get there. Maybe some other want to do the same and we can go together? Preferably I don’t want to go all on my own. Cheers!

  18. Hi guys!
I’m from Switzerland (23 years old). I’m now in Pokhara and plan to do the Annapurna Circuit trek in a few days (27-28 feb).
I think that I will go on my own from Besi Sahar to Chame (3-4 days), and maybe hire a guide from there if I find people to share the costs. If somebody wants to join, you’re welcome!!
