Three Passes Trek w/ Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp

Hello –

In beginning phase of planning this trip for Fall 2018. Plan is to spend 21 days doing 3 passes trek including Gokyo Ri / Gokyo Lakes and Everest Base Camp. Hoping to find a partner or small group and do the trip independently of a guide. Not opposed to hiring a guide, but trying to keep costs down.

Itinerary is looking good for 21 days including acclimating / rest days in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo (with trip up Goyko Ri).

Arrive in Kathmandu September 12. Begin trekking out of Lukla on the 13th.

Have done lots of backpacking in the pacific northwest. Will be hiking John Muir Trail in July 2018 too. Being in shape for a moderate paced trek won’t be an issue.

planing with least of cost just hirring 2,3 porter that will cost us around 24 dollar per day for all or you can say 5 dollar per day per person,
For this trek travel agency cost around 390 to 470 dollar per person, so its really cheap ….right?

  2. Hey Josh. I am Henrik from Denmark.
I am going to Nepal for 2 months around september-november.
I am not set on any particular trek yet, but the annapurna and EBC comes to my mind.
I havent done much hiking, but I plan on getting in fairly good shape before leaving Denmark.
I am quite interested in joining you on the trek

    • Hey Josh,

I am hoping to do EBC via goyko lakes around the same date as yourself. I think maybe thats a bit less challanging than the three passes trek. I haven’t done extensive trekking either, most trekking I’ve done has been in Patagonia. Im not on a super shoestring budget but would much prefer to hire a local guide and porter. Let me know if you would be interested in teaming up.

      Thanks,
      Tory.

  3. Hey Josh, I am planning to do the three passes trek too. I will be doing it without a guide and on a shoestring. I have done Annapurna circuit, and am travelling in Himalayas for the next 8-10 months starting in Indian Himalayas. I have done 8-10 Himalayan treks before. Let me know.

I’m from New Zealand and about to leave NZ winter 24 May (Thailand to train in Muay Thai) for Asia. should be back in Nepal in Sept 2018 to do 3 passes, love to join you either part or the whole way…I’ve done a bit of walking around the Himalaya but haven’t done the 3 passes loop (just Gokyo Ri and EBC)

  5. Hey guys,
I’m planning to do the 3 passes trek starting around Sept 26, would love to join a small group… at the end of the trek I’d like to climb a 6k+ peak, will have to book a guide for that trip though, still if someone wants to join me for the trek or/and the climb, please let me know.
