Three Passes Trek

Hi !

Im Vibekke or just call me Vicii, 26 yr old Norwegian.

Im planning to do the three Passes Trek incl. EBC
And Kala Patthar on a low budget. Without guide and porter. Ill be in Nepal from 16th dec. Need to fly to lukla 18th og 19th.

Since there probably few people walking these route in late dec i prefer walking with a partner for safety and for sharing great moments.

Want to join?

I did the classic EBC with guide and porter back in 2012. But ive also did some independent trekking in langtang and Annapurna district in winter season with heavy snowfall.

    • Hi Vince, im not sure after reading people’s stories doing this trek.. depends if the snow come early or not. Not sure if i wanna risk crossing passes without a guide.. maybe i just take the normal EBC and walk out from Jiri instead 🙂

    • Sounds good I land the 15th and nothing is concrete yet.

  3. Hey Guys,
I am also planning to hike the same time as I have very limited amount of time from 17th Dec to 1st Jan.

  4. Hi I’m on a road trip from India…
Would love to join you for company.

  5. Hi Vicii,

Nice to bump into your question 🙂

I’m a woman on a bike. Cycling from Belgium to Taiwan, 30.000 kilometres to raise €30.000 for Unicef and WWF (left Belgium April 1st 2016). Right now I’m in Nepal and would love to hike the three passes too.

Although I’m an avid cyclist I’m not so experienced in hiking, but I love it though. Because of my one year and eight months on the bike I think I can say I’m quite fit.

I’m on a tiny budget, was informing to find a guide (which is expensive) because of safety reasons and my lack of experience in trekking in the mountains.
Also I like to do things at my own pace, since I’m very keen on photography. So yes, I love to stop LOTS of time for taking pictures 😉
You should know this. Otherwise I’m feeling too guilty and stressed up if I can’t do this and be myself.
I’m not good in selling myself, isn’t it? 😉

It might be possible for me to leave the 18th or 19th too. More likely the 19th.

If you’re interested in my company you can contact me via Facebook ‘Trien Pauwels’ or through my blog

Looking forward to hearing from you
    If not, enjoy the mountains!

    • Oops, now I see there’s an inbox here as well. As you can see I’m completely new to this website 😉

    • Oh, by the way I would follow the Lonely Planet itinerary for this trip, with all the rest days included

  6. Hi trien, thank u for sharing 🙂 still i think i go for mye second)choice waking from Jiri to EBC. I’ve decide not hiring a guide couse i want freedom, and not risking having a terrible (or just not good enough)guide. Also i wanted to see the lake, now its most likly Frozen. Been trekking in january earlier.. was caught in a Heavy snowfall and dize when trying to cross the throng la pass in 2014. Walking alone but since all the 9 people started crossing the same time, we ended up walking together. The 3 nepali guide found the way back to the teahouse. If it wasnt for them we would never found the way forth or back.

    • Thanks for your reply Vicci. Enjoy your journey!
