Three Passes Trek

Hello fellow trekkers 🙂 I have plans for the Three Passes Trek this spring without guide.
I arrive to KTM on 22nd march evening, and i can start adventure on 24 March. I would rather prefer to start from the Phalpu village (2-3 days from Lukla, but much cheaper travel via bus or 4×4 from KTM, it’s also possible to drive further to the Adheri village for extra 20 bucks). It’s my first time in Nepal. My experience involves several climbs on 4-thousanders in Switzerland and Morocco, multiday treks in Iceland, Norway and Georgia and numerous summer and winter climbs and treks in the Polish-Slovakian Tatra mountains.
Hope to meet You in Nepal!

  1. Hey Aleksander!!

Just found this site, it’s amazing!! I am thinking to start around the same time as you, so maybe we can buddy up? I am wanting to walk in but have just been reading the options. How many days are you planning for the trek? I am a Canadian girl with a lots of day hiking experience, and a handful of backpacking trips, where I have carried my own camping gear/food. I think where I’m most lacking would me mapping/navigational skills. I am looking to do the trek low budjet, and would likely hit up EBC as a side trip because why not. Let me know if you want to try and start together! 🙂

    • Hey Michelle ! Thanks for Your reply! The trek should take approximately 20-22 days with no rushing. I will be in Nepal for 30 days, so in case of delays i can spend few more days on trek. I think that navigation won’t be problematic and EBC is also in my plans 🙂 We can meet in Kathmandu and try together. Mike also replied to my announcement, so we can buddy up all together in Kathmandu and maybe some other trekkers will join us.

  2. Hey Aleksander, I’m also trying to skip the flight to Lukla so if you’re looking for a potential hiking mate then let me know if you want to meet up in Kathmandu for a chat about what you’re thinking for the trek!

    • Hey Mike ! Thanks for Your reply! Of course we can meet in Kathamndu and figure out everything about trek 🙂

  3. Awesome!! Thanks for the response. Can I ask if you’re set on Phalpu? Is it supposed to be a nice hike from there? I was researching today and read that from Jiri is quite beautiful and a good way to begin acclimatizing. Also you can do an overnight bus instead of a jeep through the day so I was leaning towards starting from there. Thoughts?

  4. To be honest i strongly prefer Phalpu/Adheri (place a little bit further on the trail) instead of Jiri. It’s a few more days from Jiri and i would gladly spend that time on small trip to Pokhara and Poon Hill. I also want to save my strenght and knees for the upper part of the trail 😉

    • Ah cool!~ Sounds good. Im doing to send you a message to chat a bit more 🙂

  5. Hi Aleksander,

I have done this trail twice. 2017 – Phaplu to Gokyo Ri and in 2019 Phaplu to Kalapatthar . I have extensive trek experience. Gone upto 5600m thus far. I travel for myself nothing much. I am a local , I speak Nepali, English fluently. I am planning to do the 3-Passes too and am super flexible with dates. But yes, starting 24 March is a great idea , specially avoide the mad rush during April-May climbing season.

I am on whats app. +977-9851140503 hit me up.

    • Hey! Great to hear that You want to join! I will write to You via whats app
