Manaslu Circuit Trek

Hi there!

I’m Bart from the Netherlands and I’m looking for a hiking partner (or perhaps multiple) to hike the Manaslu Circuit from approximately 11th of November.

I’ve been to Nepal before and hiked the Annapurna Circuit in about 20 days. What I liked best about it were the amazing views around Manang and near Kagbeni. My hiking tempo would be average to fast – I like to walk quite a bit during the day, to have a rewarding rest in the evening.

The length of the hike is something that we can talk about. We can either do it in 10 days, or add Tsum Valley or even extend it by joining the Annapurna Circuit. I’m all for exploring any side routes.

Concerning the budget: I’d like to carry my own backpack, so a porter would not be necessary. A guide and a permit would be. I guess the approximate costs for these will be around 500 USD, but I haven’t booked anything yet.

Please leave a message here or send me an e-mail, if you want to join me (or if you have a group that I can join)!

  1. Hi Bart,

I am looking for a trekking partner for either the AC or the Manaslu Circuit starting the beginning of November! My arrival and departure date are yet to be confirmed so am flexible.

Please give me a message as I am incredibly keen to undertake this challenge! I will be on a budget but happy to get a guide as this will be my first trek of this length.

    WhatsApp me on +447769317773 !

    Many thanks,

    Ben

  2. Hi Bart and Ben

I’m at a slight disadvantage in having my flights to and from Kathmandu confirmed: landing on the 9th and leaving on the 24th November.

I have nothing else fixed, but am interested in joining if the timing works out.

  3. Hi Daniel,

Another friend of mine is arriving on the 11th of November. I’m not sure if that would timing wise, it might be a littlebit too tight.

Let’s keep in touch and see whenever we have decided on a more definitive start date. 🙂

  4. Hi Dan and Bart,

Have you guys got any further with any plans?

  5. Hey Bart,
I’m arriving in Kathmandu on the 6th of November and leaving on 5th .
I was planning to do Annapurna or Manaslu Circuit. I’m looking for some people to share the experience, as i don’t want to walk on my own the whole time.
Do you already have planned when you are going to start your trek?

    • Hi boys,

I’m arriving on the 7th, leaving on the 30th. I want to go for 18 days in total (manaslu + tsum if I can fit it in). I’m in good shape, but I arranged a porter/guide already with an agency. I am the only one in the group at the moment. If you fancy joining me, let me know.

  6. hey, is departure date confirmed?

  7. Hey.
I’m a solo trekker & imterested in joining as I’ll be in Nepal around same time. Appreciate if you share your plan.

  8. Hi Guys,
I’m planning to go the Manaslu Circuit starting on Monday 11.11. (I’m invited to a wedding in Bhaktapur on 9.11. And my return flight is on 23.11. Hence I’m somewhat constrained, but the original posting seems to fit perfectly. So if that fits with you, I would be happy to share a guide (and avoid a ghost permit).
Typically I’m a rather fast walker, but will try to slow Down to respect the altitude. 😉 Also I carry my own stuff, hence no porter required either.
Please let me know where you are with your plans.
    Cheers,
    Torsten

  9. Hey Guys.
I’m also planning to do this trek in almost same days. I’ll be in Nepal on 08.11.2019 & will leave on 24.11.2019. Considering requirement for ghost permit, I would be happy to share a guide with you. I’ll carry my own stuffs. Please let me know if I can share the journey with you. TIA.

  10. Hey Bart,

How’s the plan looking so far? I’ll be in Nepal on similar dates and the trip fits perfectly.

Lemme know whats the update and if you’re still open for more people.>
    Thanks
    Chintan

  11. I’m currently planning with following itinerary starting on Monday, 11.11. to be back on 22.11. (but will be flexible to go a bit further per day too).

Day 2 Soti to Machhakhola (869m, 5 hrs)

Day 3 Machhakhola to Jagat (1340m, 7 hrs)

Day 4 Jagat to Deng (1860m, 7 hrs)

Day 5 Deng to Namrung (2630m, 7 hrs)

Day 6 Namrung to Sama (3520m, 7 hrs)

Day 7 Acclimatisation day. Hike to either Birendra Lake/Manaslu Base camp or Pungen

Day 8 Sama to Samdo (3860m, 3 hrs)

Day 9 Samdo to Dharmasala (4460m, 5 hrs)

Day 10 Dharmasala to Larke La 5160m then descends to Bhimthang (3590, 8 hrs).

Day 11 Bhimthang to Dharapani (1960m, 7/8 hrs).

Day 12 Bus from Dharapani to Kathmandu

    What do you think?

(If we are 3 hikers + 1 guide, we could possibly alternatively share a jeep. I’ve read they’re about $200 in total per way from KTM.)

  12. Hey Torsten,
Your plan seems a good one. Only one thing to br added from my end. In day 12 night stay can be in Taal instead of Dharapani, as Taal is tge most beautiful village that I’ve ever seen in Nepal & missed staying there. Do uou have any vacant space in your team? I’m interested. Have you communicated with any guide/agency for permit?
    .
May be we could do the trek togethe. Looking forward yo hear from your end. Cheers.

  13. Hi Forhan,
Thank you, just brought it together from different websites to fit my timing. Generally I’m flexible to slight adjustments (keeping the end date fixed as my return flight leaves on 23.11.). So I would be happy to go further to Taal (if we manage that rather long way from Bhimthang, apparently about 9-11h, although I’m not quite sure yet, what to think about these times found on websites). Also I’ve read something about a nicer tea house in Liding (1hr after Soti Khola). We can see then and hopefully the guide can advice more on this as well.
I’m happy for you to join me as so far I’m still on my own (except a guide).
And yes, I have contacted a guide and two agencies, but haven’t agreed anything yet. I thought I go there to meet them on the Friday before.
Permits I also want to organise on that Friday. (I arrive Thursday evening).
Yes, we can trek together. What time do you arrive on the 8.11.?
