Manaslu Circuit Trek

Hi all

Right, we’re doing the Manaslu and Tsum trek – leaving on the bus for Arughat on the 1st April – and are looking for some like-minded independent/solo trekkers to climb with and form a little group (max 6 people) to share the costs of the compulsory guide (I’ve got a good one at cost of $25 per day).

I’ve done quite a few of the Nepal treks and am a fairly fit/steady walker. However, I’m very easy-going and do like to take my time and enjoy the surroundings; have some chilled acclimatization/lazy days, etc. (especially if someone in the group isn’t feeling so great). So, was planning on doing the trek in a nice, leisurely 3 weeks or so.

I’m in Kathmandu, Thamel now and already have another two people confirmed (boy and girl). So, if you’re of a like mind and genuinely interested then please get in touch and we can arrange a meet-up in Thamel, have a chat, and get things organised from there. We can get the permits ($175) and conservation fees (4000 rupees) all sorted the day before no problem. In fact, if you’re reading this at the last minute, we will all be in Sam’s Bar on the 30th from 8pm so come along and join us!

Cheers, Dave

  1. Hey David,

I’m very interested in doing the Manaslu circuit at around the time you are planning to do so. I am arriving in Kathmandu on the 19th and I am due to depart on April 13th. Not sure if that would work with your timings.

I consider myself fit and easy going too – so based on that I reckon we’re of like mind. So please get in touch if you think there’s potential there.

    • Hi John

Thanks for replying. What’s the absolute latest you could depart? I’ve got a very flexible time-frame but I think your timings might make things a little tight for me. Anyway, let me know and I’ll see if it’s something I can work with/around. Cheers

  2. Hi David,

I’m in kathmandu at the moment and am hoping to start trekking the manaslu circuit in the first week of April so it sounds like our plans are pretty similar. It would be great to find someone to share with so let me know if you’d like to discuss further!

    Best ,

    • Hi Liora

I’m in Thamel now so let me know if you’re still up for the trek and we can have a chat/answer any questions, etc. Looks like the group is beginning to take shape (have a couple of hikers confirmed) with a departure date of April 1st/2nd. Anyway, let me know. Cheers.

  3. I’ve sent you a private message so we can plan to meet

  4. Hey David and others,

I am in Kathmandu right now, plan to go around Manaslu starting in early April and I am looking for a few companions — for sharing the costs but more so for having cool interactions 🙂 I am 32 years old but still pretty fit 🙂

My return flight leaves Kathmandu on the 21st, so I have to back latest on the 20th, preferrably on the 19th. If you think that this could work with your plans, I’d be happy to meet you guys and discuss some more. What do you say?

    Cheers, Tobias

    • Hi Tobias

Thanks for writing. To be honest, I think your plans might be a little tight for our group as we are doing the Tsum Valley as well, which adds on another week/8days. However, we are leaving on the 1st April and it could be possible to do the whole trek and be back in KTH by the 20th – you would just need to catch a bus at the end of the trek. What do you think?
