Langtang, Gosainkund & Helambu

*UPDATE We are leaving on 27th October (Monday) to Saybru Besi by bus from Kathmandu. There’s around 4-5 people keen to start on that day so it’s all confirmed now.

Jump in if you’re looking to do a relatively easy 10-14 days trek in the Langtang region starting late October (around 25th to 30th Oct). I am looking to combine Gosainkunda & Helambu – might as well since we’re on the trek – and will be staying in teahouses all the way. No porter or guide needed and you’ll have sporadic entertainment, intentional and unintentional, by none other than yours truly.

Rough Itinerary (i’m okay with additional side trips):

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Saybru Besi (1460m.) which takes about nine hours.
Day 02: Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2410m.) and it takes about six hours.
Day 03: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3330m.) which takes about five hours.
Day 04: Trek from Langtang village to Kyangjin (3730m.) and it takes about four and half hours.
Day 05: Rest day in Kyangjin. It is a day to rest and explore the area
Day 06: Trek from Kyangjin to Lama Hotel (2410m.) which takes about five hours
Day 07: Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2130m.) and it takes about six and half hours.
Day 08: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3330m) which takes about five hours.
Day 09: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikund (4380m.) and it takes about five hours.
Day 10: Trek from Gosaikund to Ghopte (3430m.) which takes about seven hours.
Day 11: Trek from Ghopte to Kutumsang (2446m.) and it takes about five hours.
Day 12: Trek from Kutumsang to Chisopani which takes about six hours.
Day 13: Conclude trek at Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu (1350m.) which takes about seven hours.

I’m a slow, steady trekker, and usually start trekking between 730-830 AM till 3-5 PM. Pretty much easy going as i have the time to spare

  9. Hey jolyn, i would love to join you guys! What time do you leave from kathmandu? Where do you stay at ktm? Maybe we can meet on sunday already? Would be so nice, cu michaela

  10. I’m going to be trekking independently the same area, the same time. Hope to see your group along the way.

That bus ride is my only worry. I’ve trekked many of the other regions of Nepal – the bus to the trailhead is the worst and most dangerous part. Did you look at hiring a private vehicle? Could cost as little as $30 each.

    • See you guys on the trail then!

  11. Looks like I will start 1-day behind you. Perhaps I’ll catch up at some point. 🙂
