Kilimanjaro (Umbwe Route)
I would like to climb the Kilimanjaro in February or March (preferred) 2016 on the most spectacular Umbwe Route.
As it is the steepest route (sure footedness needed) to get to Uhuru Peak (5895m) it is less crowded and more natural.
However, the summit will be the most crowded spot as all routes meet there eventually.
Here you can get some information on the different routes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Kilimanjaro_climbing_routes
A climb on the Umbwe Route takes 6 or 7 days, depending on taking one extra day for acclimatization. As the ascent is rather fast, scheduling the extra day might be a good idea.
Daily trekking is about 5-7 hours. Summit day is about 12-14 hours.
I would prefer a group size of not more than 5 or 6 trekkers.Reply
