Kanchenjunga circuit

I’m looking to do the Kanchenjunga circuit around the 10th-13th of april, I’ll be flying in to Kathmandu a few days before to sort out maps, permits and potentially guide etc. But I’m fairly flexible to any slight changes in dates or itineraries to suit others.
I essentially want to have a great time trekking in one of the best parts of the world experiencing what true nepalese mountain life is like, staying clear of areas dominated by tourism. I’d love to trek with others if possible and am open to everyone, i get on well with virtually everyone i meet and would be very happy to get in contact before the trip to arrange things and find out more about anybody who’s potentially interested.

    Hi Michael,

Jim just posted a trip report from his Kanchenjunga trek this past monsoon season – might be helpful!

  2. hi would like to join the group. been once to EBS few years ago would like to do it again

  3. Hi Michael,

I am also planning to do this trek in april this year, dates are not set i can come on a decided date to kathmandu, i live in india so it wont take me long to be in kathmandu.

Are you interested in doing this trek without guides ? This is a tea house trek as far as i know…so guide is not needed really. !! Let me know if you are interested in going without a guide i know a way to arrange permits this way.

I plan on doing both the south and north base camps, i have done trekkking in nepal before <Poon hill – Ghorepani – Annapurna Circuit – Everest 3 passes trek) I want to combine this trek with either rolwaling or manaslu circuit so going with a shoe string budget.

    Cheers

    • Hi Karan, thanks for your interest, I’m still planning on doing the trek just so you know, although my flights into Kathmandu are already booked so i’ll be in Kathmandu from the 10th april anyway and ready to trek as soon as I’ve sorted everything. I’m very willing to do this trip without guides, and would likely only use them if required for the permit.
yep, that sounds good to me, I’m still fairly easily swayed as to what I do and i’d be happy to fit in with your plans.
Thanks for your interest and hope to hear from you soon 🙂

    • Will keep you posted, I would want to tell you that getting to do this trek without a guide is not a sure shot thing. The agency i know of offered me permits without guide back in September last year. He could sway away from his offer now. But i know it is possible after paying a little money “under the table”

But either ways i will try for it, will keep you posted on my plans. April is not far away.
