Jiri – Lukla – Gokyo/EBC- Lukla- Tumlingtar

Hi, my plans are as follows;

Bus from Kathmandu to Jiri (3-5 December), trek up to Lukla, then Gokyo Lakes, I would like to cross Cho La pass to EBC. After descending back to Lukla I want to head eastwards to Tumlingtar( from where I’ll bus back to Kathmandu/ maybe on to Pokhara).
I intend to trek independently( for the majority of the journey) without a porter/guide and lodge at teahouses enroute. I may consider a guide only for crossing mountain passes.
If anyone has similar plans, please contact me…

  1. Hello Nick,
like you I am looking for company on this great journey. Our plans are similar and I since your departing date says “flexible”, I was wandering if you would be willing to start one week earlier?

    Let me know

    • Hi Niv

My flight arrives in Katmandu on the 1st December. I will also need at least a couple of days there to sort of TIMMS card and Sagarmartha permit. After this I’m flexible on my dates but unfortunately not before

      Hello Nick,

      Thank you for the reply.

After completing my voluntary work at the end of the month, I am meeting with a “trekking partner” to try and complete the Annapurna Circuit. We should be done around November 15th after what I will head towards Katmandu. I would like to hike from Jiri and consequently might have to start late November rather than early December. Maybe we can meet up for part of the trek?

I am still looking to find some trekking partners for part or for the completion of the 3 passes…

      I will keep you updated.

      Best Regards

  2. Thanks Alex for diverting the message this way!

Maybe we can meet somewhere along the route, but if you do have a change of mind or a delay on your current plan then please don’t hesitate to contact me again..

  3. Hi Nick,
I also plan to trek from Jiri to Lukla and the Gokyo Lakes, in the beginning of December. I am still in Katmandou as a medical student !
I have to be in KTM on the 21th of December, as my plane to Paris lands on the 22th.
We could maybe talk about sharing your first weeks together…?

  4. Hey Nick, I am interested. Do you know how long the entire trip will take?

    • Hi shakeen,
I estimate the trip to about 4 weeks. I want to remain fairly flexible during the trip, so to include acclimatization days and circumstances. Currently looking to leave KTM 5th/6th of December.

  5. Hey

Your plans are identical to mine. And i want to walk also no flying in! I just finished Annapurna Circuit and want to do Everest as I enjoyed it so much. I would be willing also to start on the 6th as enjoying the rest after the 21 days of walking.

But if you could reply that would be useful 🙂

    Thank you

    • Sorry I meant 1st.

  6. Hi everyone!

I just found an alternative route to EVB, also without flying, cutting the climb up for about 2-3 days. There is a new road leading up to Sallari (Paphla) – Jeeps leaving from Kathmandu at 4:30 am (about 2000 Rupee).

Initially, I wanted to do the same hike as describes in the first post, but also I was hoping to finish it by Xmas and since it’s getting a bit late…. I started considering going to Salleri instead of Jiri.

Leaving on Dec 1st would be ideal I guess. Any chance you are all meeting up somewhere in Kathmandu to discuss the ideas?
