Island Peak

Leaving kathmandu for lukla on April 10th. Taking traditional EBC route (phakding, namche, dengboche, labouche). Will then go from. Labouche to island peak base camp for summit. Hope to take in Everest BC & gokyo lakes on way back. Would like to be back in kathmandu for April 25 or 26th.

This will be my third trip to Nepal having previously completed the Everest base camp trip in september 2013 and trekked in lower Annapurnas in April 2015. I’m very relaxed and outgoing. Looking forward to having some fun along the way!

  1. Hello, I am planning to do a trip in Nepal in April 2017 going through the 3 High Passes and hopefully climbing Island peak at the end. I have never been in Nepal before but I have climbed Mont Blanc and a number of peaks in Bulgaria during the winter. I am also very keen rock climber. I am currently working in London, UK. Let me know if that sounds like something you want to do.

  2. Hey id be keen for Island peak around then ill be in nepal from around the 25th onwards

  3. Let me arrange your trekking permit and a guide (If you prefer) need!
Sharing a guide won’t hurt, it will only help.
I’ve been trying to bridge the need of a trusted and fun guide for a trekkers to make their trekking more comfortable, more enjoyable.
I provide guides with different personalities, different interests.
All I need to know is your preference in a guide. And i’ll run like a wind to find it for you.
I am a guide myself and a trekker as well. I’ve been a guide myself for years and i’ve hired a guide in Julian Alps. So, I think I understand the importance of a good companionship, good team for a comfortable journey.

  4. Hey Everyone,

I will be in Nepal from 17 March – 22nd April and would be keen to do Everest Base camp and possibly go to Island peak too.

Let me know if anyone wants to team up and start setting up a plan together.

    • Hi Anna great to hear from you. My plan is to carry my own bag. I will be using a guide for island peak & labouche. The more people, lower the cost. Have you climbed before?
      Regards darragh

    • Hey Darragh,

Nice to hear from you. I have not climbed before, so not sure how easy it might be for me, but i’m willing to give it a good go! Do you already know how much the guide will cost? Of we depart on your proposed date, do you think I could be back by 22nd to fly out of Kathmamdu?

  5. Anna it takes 7 – 8 days to get to base camp and 3 back to lukla. Island peak is a day long trip from the route, followed by a day training/ moving to high camp & then summit. So need to allow for extra 3 days. Cost of permit plus guide per mountain is cUS$1,000, so it ain’t cheap! If you’re under time pressure of 12 days or so, not sure if you’re going to be able to make island peak also. Have a think and if you really want to do island peak, you may have to leave a few days earlier.

  6. Hi I will be in Nepal from 1st April and gonna stay for around two months. It’s gonna be my first time to Nepal and I am planning to summit Island Peak. I am an avid hiker. Have done one day ascend to Mt. Kinabalu and Yushan. Have also climbed Mt. Fuji through the toughest trail, Gotemba line. I am physically fit and I am more than happy if I could join you!

    • Stephanie
Would be delighted to have you on board. I am finalising my plans. Great that you’re interested in climbing Island Peak. I will ask my travel agent if he can offer a discount for 2! Perhaps there may be more interested in joining?

  7. Hi Darragh, good to hear from you and I am sure I can join you if things work out, please stay in touch and share with me your itineraries:)

A little more about me, I am a 27-year-old girl from HK currently do my round the world travel:)

    Thank you!

    • Hi Stephanie how are you? Still interested in climbing that mountain? Cheers darragh

  8. Hello there!

I’m glad to see the interest in Island Peak and Labouche.

I am a Canadian traveller currently in Nepal, will be living in a village in Dolka for the next month or so and am then hoping to climb a peak or two. I am really keen on Mera Peak and Island Peak and would be thrilled to attempt either or both.

I am potentially interested in joining your plans if you’re still looking for partners. Are you planning on trekking into base camp with a guide? I was hoping to trek independently and only hire a guide for 3 climbing/summit days.

Also, anyone out there keen on Mera Peak?!

    • Hi Mariele thanks for the message. I’m getting into Nepal on April 8th & hope fly to lukla on April 10th. I’m planning to do island peak & possibly labouche east. Would be great if you’re interested in joining. Best regards darragh
