Independent Trekking in Nepal April-May 2014 – want to join our group?

Hi! My name is Jacqui. I am trekking in Nepal with a friend, arriving in KM April 4 and flying home to Melbourne May 17. Plan is to do EBC with Gokyo Lakes and Annapurna. We are hiring a guide through Three Sisters (ethical guide company) and will enjoy the 6 weeks of trekking! We have both had lots of trekking experience but this is my firs time in Nepal. Let me know if our dates line up and we can see if we could trek together and share the cost of the guide.

  1. Hi Jacqui,

I am definitely interested! I will be in Nepal all of March (from March 5th on). I was also looking for a female trekking buddy, so this could work out perfectly! I am 34 and live in Chicago. I am new to this site, so I am not sure if there is a way to send private messages. My e-mail is, I am looking forward to hearing from you!

  2. Julie, go to home page, click on your sign in ‘photo’, see messages, click on that, see ‘compose’ on second line.

  3. Thanks Roger!

  4. you’re welcome….happy trekking!

  5. Jacqui,

I like the background to your photo – where exactly on the main range is it. If I am right – and please confirm it for me – the background peaks are Caruthers and Twynam. I plan to go trekking to EBC and Gokyo Lakes from mid February to mid March. So our plans would not mesh.

  6. Hi Jacqui. Im 22, female, and from Sydney and plan on being in Nepal from late Feb/early March (flexible). I have been looking at trekking companies but think doing it this way may be my best bet.
I have never trekked before (so i wouldn’t want to be a hindrance to you) however i have a high level of fitness which i hope would suffice!
I’m still researching and getting my head around everything but will hopefully be in touch!

  7. Hi Alan – Yep those peaks sounds correct – the day before or the day we hit Kozcy across the main range. Amazing! We did the Alps Track 2 years ago. The best 7 weeks of my life!!!!!! 🙂

  8. Jacqui, I have always wanted to do the Alpine Walking Track but have never had anyone to do it with – lucky you! Have done the Hume and Hovell Track (it used to be 310 km but is now extended – I did the 310 km version as a solo walk). The track along the main range seems better than I remember it (I have been there summer and winter for more than 40 years).

  9. Hi Jacqui
I fly into Kathmandu on April 5th 2014.
Im planning on either leaving Kathmandu for Jiri by bus on Monday 7th April or flying to Lukla on Friday 11th April to do EBC (flexible).
I will be flying back to Kathmandu on Saturday 26th April.
I will be hiring a porter.

Let me know if that fits in with your schedule.
    Natalie from Australia.

  10. Hi Natalie,
I am flying in April 4th, and was keen to leave for Lukla on April 5th. Our schedule is tight to fit in as much as we can. It could work though – where do you live??

  11. Hi Jacqu,

If you are planning Upper Mustang in May I am interested.

I am Marina from Berlin. I am 32. I arrive to Kathmandu on 5th and leaving on 19th. I was planning to make Gokyo Lakes trekking. I don’t know if you are set with dates, maybe my arrival is too late)) But if it fits please let me know.

  16. Hi Jacqui!

Boston-based 26 year old here, I am also arriving in Kathmandu on April 4th, looking to do the EBC trip starting on the 5th. If you and your group have room or interest in adding another single female traveller, I would love to join you! My dates are flexible as I’ll be in the country for an extended visit, but I do like the idea of flying to Lukla for EBC on the 5th.

I am going to send you a private message as well to see if our schedules make sense to mesh together for EBC and the other treks you have planned. Many thanks!

  17. Hmmm…. couldn’t figure out how to send a private PM?

  18. Hi Sarah and Jacqui,

I am interested in your EBC trek starting April 5th to Lukla! I was very close to booking w/ a trek company but I *much* prefer to go independently with you gals for the experience.

I am a 25 year old Michigan-based American, traveling solo in Nepal. I arrive in KTM April 3 and leave April 29.

I don’t want to do Annapurna, just EBC-Gokyo. I actually wasn’t going to Gokyo, just EBC b/c I’m worried Gokyo is too strenuous. What do you think? I am fairly fit but no altitude experience.

What dates is the EBC – Gokyo portion be?
    How much will it cost?
    Is it camping or teahouse?

I plan to go to Pokhara and maybe Chitwan after EBC. No definite plans/dates for that yet but it’d be nice to have a travel partner for that too, if anyone on this thread wants to go.

Please keep me updated with your plans.

  19. Hi all

I’m also looking for a 2-3 week (or thereabouts) trek, I haven’t been trekking in Nepal before so I don’t mind if it’s EBC or ABC or Manaslu…. really I need to keep the costs down though, so an independent guide – and a nice group of people too! – would be very good way to experience the mountains.
I’m leaving for Chitwan tomorrow (19th March) just for 3 nights, after that I can make my way to either Pokhara or Kathmandu to get to the start of a trek. So please keep me posted!!
I’m a 36 year old British woman, into yoga and art and the Great Outdoors. I’m relatively fit (I think!) and easy going, and looking forward to getting into the mountains.
    Hope to hear from you,

  20. Hello, this looks great. I am planing to do the three pass (ecb + gokyo). We could meet up to talk about it. I am already in Kathmandu. Joe
