Helambu Trek

I am coming back to Nepal by the end of february, mainly to see friends in Boudha where I have lived and studied 2015/2016 but also to go hiking in the Himalayas.
I’ve done the Annapurna Circuit and another hike from Pokhara to Muktinath before, I want to explore a different region. Friends of mine did the Helambu Trek and spoke in high tone of it. It is said to be especially beautiful in spring. You can pretty much just hike out of Kathmandu Valley into the national park, which saves time (and nerves) you’d spend on a busride to reach other treks.
I am still open for other suggestions. Id’s be up for a 10-15 day hike. I like to enjoy the views and gag with the locals ( I speak a little nepali and tibetan) so I don’t want to rush through the whole experiance, but I have to say I have a slightly dynamic pace 😉

  1. Hey Johanna! I’m interested in joining you, I was looking at doing langtang valley but helambu looks awesome as well. I’m in Nepal for 3 months and am just hoping to get some treks in when I can find a partner- so yeah look forward to hearing from you!

  2. Hi Johanna and Jillian,
I just came back from the annapurna base camp and poonhill, and I want to explore more mountains 🙂 I did the valleytrek of Kathmandu already, and I heard the Helambu is quite similar from surroundings, this is why I wanted to do rather the langtang trek because you get closer to the Tibetan border, you can visit monasteries, and you might see yaks 🙂 ! You can do this trek in 5 or 6 days (and you can go the the gosaikund lakes if you have more time). I’m in Kathmandu now, so let me know if you would be interested for langtang.
