Gosainkunda Lake Trek

Hi, I am in Nepal with my brother in March, arriving in Kathmandu on the 3rd at 14.30

we were planning on staying a day in kathmandu on the 4th to sort out permits and trekking plans/kit plus a bi of sightseeing before departing for the langtang valley trek on the 5th

We are looking for someone to share cost of a 4×4 journey to Syabrubesi rather than suffer the bus

We are also interested in possibly hiring / sharing an affordable local guide/porter

We are pretty fit and trek at a reasonable pace, though I do not wish to suffer from altitude sickness so will be ascending sensibly

We would love to have visited Gosainkunda lakes but I dont think thats realistic safely in our time frame, as we have return flights at 10am on March 13th

Company on any part of the trek would be nice but what Im really looking for is people to share the cost of a 4×4 or private car transfer from Kathmandu (and back) to avoid a slow and painful bus journey !

Any Takers ?

  1. Hi Maike!
I’m also arriving in Kathmandu on the March 3rd. AND, I’m planning on trekking in Langtang valley.

I’m travelling solo and independently, and I was going to just take the cheap bus up to Syabrubesi,

Do you know the cost of the 4X4? I’m am interested in that option, at least from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi.

    • Hiya, from my research so far I believe it’s approx $25 per person each way if there are 4 of you

Not sure how many the jeep sits? Upto 6 maybe but don’t want to be too cramped especially with all our kit lol

I just think jeep will be bit quicker and I won’t get travel sick like I would on bus cos I can sit at the front ! Plus we can stop to take photos and go to the toilet whenever we like

Where are you staying on sat and Sunday night? My brother and I are in the Elbrus hostel

  2. Hi. I haven’t booked anything yet. I’m currently looking online at guesthouse/hostel options in the Thamel district. This is my second trip to Nepal.

Anyway, I’d be happy to share a 4X4, perhaps we could meet up in Kathmandu? If we could get at least four people that would be ideal.

If it doesn’t work out, I can manage the express bus, but a private ride in a 4X4 does sound nice! Feel free to private message me so we can arrange something!

  3. Was planning on getting Nepalese SIM card for my phone but apparently I can’t unlock mine without problems so not sure how reachable I will be. Depending on the WiFi signal you can try and what’s app me on my uk number when you land in Kathmandu 00447557418578

    Or email me maaike.rose@yahoo.co.uk

I’m on the case to sort jeep
All day Sunday as well as sorting trek permits! So be good if we can get in touch sat night or early Sunday

I want to get it sorted ASAP so I can go and see the monkey temple !

What’s your number and are you on what’s app? (Easier to communicate on that rather than here) x

  4. Be even easier if you stayed at same hostel as us maybe ? Elbrus Home – it has good reviews and room available on the dates March 3rd to 5th

  5. I’ll add you to Whatsapp and I’ll send you an email soon.
I’m also going to take a look at Elbrus home. I’ll let you know where I’m staying, regardless. Let’s do it!
