gokyo Lake trek

I’m Alice from Italy. I’will arrive in Kathmanud on april 1. It’s the firt trip in Nepal and actually i have no plan, but the idea is the three passes trek (gokyo ri) or annapurna circuit trek or any other beautiful trek. I walk moderate pace, travel on a low buget and to share and enjoy this adventure!!

  1. Hi Alice –

I will be arriving in Kathmandu the evening of April 2 and then returning the evening of April 23. How long is your stay?

I’m still trying to decide my trek plan, but am thinking about either jeeping to Salleri or flying to Phaplu, trek up through Gokyo valley, cross Cho La pass, get to EBC, then head back down to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. I’m travelling on a low budget as well and trying to decide whether to hire a guide or not.

Let me know if you want to try to meet up and trek together.

By the way – ho abitato a Siena venti anni fa..dove in Italia si vive fa? (hopefully that translates correctly lol – my Italian is pretty rusty..)

  2. Ciao Bruce.

I’ll arrive the 1st of April and i’ll come back the 30th.

your plan it’s similar to what i thought. my could be: kathmandu – shivalaya by bus; shivalaya – lukla (6 days) or fly directly to lukla; lukla-gokyo (pass through namche bazaar, kongma la-lobuche-cho la) -lukla.
I’m not really convinced about EBC because it’s very busy.
of course alone it’s not recommended, if i can’t organize this route i change in annapurna, easier and more people to find.

i’ll meet in kathmandu a local man, a friend of a friend of mine. maybe he can halp. we can meet also when you’ll arrive.
    (my english it’s quite bad!!)

p.s. I know siena, beautiful Tuscany.. I live on Como lake.

    • Sounds good Alice.

I agree that EBC feels too busy – my trip is about exploring the surrounding valleys and passes, EBC is less priority, though if I can fit it in, I will try.

Let me know how your trip planning goes and if you want to try to meet up in Kathmandu on April 3. I might line up a guide before arriving or just work it out once there.

Como lake is quite beautiful as well – I love that region of Italy.

  3. hey Bruce.
I adapt my itinerary and i think it’s better for me to do only Gokyo Lakes in order to have more days to enjoy the rest of Nepal. when i’ll arrive in KTM i try to meet a local friend and a guide. see you there.

    • Hi Alice – that sounds like a good plan.

I will be staying at the Kathmandu Guest House in Thamel from late evening April 2 until the morning of April 4, then will either fly to Phaplu or bus to Jiri to start trek. I plan to explore the Gokyo region and if time permits go over Cho La pass and down the Everest Base Camp valley, then fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla.

Hope to see you in Kathmandu – Ciao!

  4. Hi alice and Bruce,
I arrive in KTM on the 1st of april as well and would like to start treking on the 4th. I have been thinking of doing the Gokyo lakes trek as well but i would like to spend not more than about 10 days trekking as i want to have time to explore rest of nepal. Are you thinking of hiring just a guide or a porter as well? maybe we can meet up somewhere in KTM on the 1st and we can discuss 🙂 hope to see you guys soon!

  5. Hello all, I’m also very much interested.

  6. Hi everyone,

I’m arriving in Kathmandu tomorrow (the 3rd) and am flying to Lukla on the 5th and am planning on doing the Three Passes trek in 18 days, flying back to Kathmandu on the 23rd. I’m traveling alone and would like to go without a guide or porters, but I’d love one or more companions to trek with. Anybody who is on a similar schedule and interested?
