Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is the most frequently visited trek route in the Annapurna region of central Nepal. At sunrise it offers an exciting photographic opportunities of some 78 snow-capped peaks of over 6000m: from Dhaulagiri at 8167m in the west, across the 80 km Annapurna range to the north, sacred Machhapuchhare (The Fishtail, 6993m) and on to Manaslu 8163m in the north east.
Our Poon Hill short trek is designed for travelers with reasonable fitness but with limited time. A 25m flight from Kathmandu takes you to the scenic holiday resort of Pokhara on Lake Phewa.
After breakfast in the Lake city Pokhara, this easy trek begins with a 1½ hr switchback drive over scenic forested hills to the village of Nayapul, the start of the trek. The trail follows the upstream valley through bamboo forest and farmland and passes through several villages as you rise towards a ridge and the overnight village of Tikhedhunga (1540m).
This Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking offers splendid views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhare from the ridge-trail. Later, the trail plunges into deep tranquil forests of oak, rhododendron, maple and hemlock as it gradually rises to Ghorepani (2850m) with its many hotels and tourist facilities. Early morning hike to summit of Poon Hill which should be rewarded by sunrise across the expanse of the mighty peaks to the north. Return to your hotel for breakfast and fast down-route back to your starting point at Nayapul and your transport back to your hotel in Pokhara.
Spring (March- May) and Autumn (September-November) are the most popular seasons, but we offer this trek throughout the year; at times, the mountain views may be marred by cloud or heat haze.
All you need is a good pair of walking shoes, a day pack, warm clothing, sleeping bag and camera. Our trek includes transport, accommodation, meals, drinking water and hot showers.
