Three Passes Trek

Looking for a partner to do the 3 passes trek. Hoping to add a day trip to EBC as well. I am an experienced hiker/ backpacker and have hiked at elevation many times. Hoping to do the trip without guides and porters and would like to keep a relatively low budget.

I am from the US and live in Washington, DC and am originally from California. Have done a lot of traveling in Asia, but never Nepal. It’s been high on my list for years. No set dates, but hoping to leave mid November and stay for 1-2 months.

  1. Hi Lily,
How are you ? I’m heading to Nepal for March and April to do the three passes trek independently if you’re interested. I know your post says you’re not going till the fall but if you change your mind let me know I’m also an avid trekker. I’m from Connecticut so it would be nice to connect.

    • Hi Deirdre,

I work in campaigns here in dc and unfortunately am not going to be able to go until the election is over and I have some free time. I would still love to connect and here about your trip! Need all the advice I can get.

  2. Hi Lilt,
I’m from Germany but currently in Singapore. I’m also planning to do Three pass trek in Nepal in November, I’m Physical fit for about 4,000 meter altitude but I’m thinking to do with guide and porter if incase anything happen during the trek it would be more helpful. It would be nice to share the basic cost of the trip and conversation during the trek. Thanks.

    • Hi Kevin,

Good to know about your plan. I am planning to do the EBC, Gokyo and 3 passes trek from October 8th 2022. Is there a way we could connect and discuss in case we both could be flexible with the dates. I have a guide in Lukla and he is willing to join me in the trip to guide me.

    • Just interested how your plans are going.
How did you go about booking flights to Lukla and if so how are you getting to Ramachep. Its a little bit more involved now that they are not flying out of Katmandu. I also was thinking of doing 3 passes trek in November.
      Cheers

  3. Hi Lilt.

Understood that you have a set plan during November 2022 and I am planning to the EBC, Gokyo and 3 passes from 8th october 2022 with a guide who is already set in Lukla an willing to join me in the trek. There is already a Partner by the name Kevin who is planning to do the same in November. My suggestion is that if we 3 can connect for a flexible date sometime during October or November with a guide we can have a good budget to do this trek.

  4. hi, looking for a travel partner or a small group to do the Jiri to Everest base camp trek with kala patthar, gokyo lake and three passes. which will be around 26-27 days of trek. dates are flexible October and November any month any dates will be comfortable.have done my full research on this trek. please get in touch and we can discuss further…

  5. Making a trip to Nepal this November to hike the 3 passes. I may do a side trip to Island Peak for a 4 day climb from Dingboche. Considering also hiking from Jiri (I hear its a beautiful trek through the foot hills). I have lots of side hikes planned (we’ll see which come to fruition) to Nangkartshang, Chukhung RI, EBC, Gokyo Ri, and Gokyo IV/V/VI Lakes. Total length of stay will probably be a month. No definitive plan yet about how long I want to stay in the TPT area or if I might want to explore some other areas of Nepal or neighboring countries. I have never done high altitude treks but have been a trekking guide in Denali National park for the past three summers. I have the endurance and just need to be smart about acclimatization. Its gonna be a wild ride and I’m so stoked!

    • Hi Kenny, hope you doing well? I and my friend have planned for a trip to EBC with the three passes trek and also do the island peak. I am going to start my trip from 25th October from jiri & my friend will join.me from lukla on 1st nov. We have a guide in place. If you are interested to join will be great. Can mail you the detail itinerary.

  7. Hi Lilt,
Do I understand you correctly, that you are NOT planning to do neither Chukhung Ri, nor Kala Patthar, nor Gokyo? I am asking, because I’ve done some planning for “3 passes – 3 Summits” for November, and duration of 15 days sounds too aggressive.
I’ve been in Nepal couple of years ago doing Annapurna circle without guides and porters, just love it, and believe, that “3 passes – 3 Summits” is a natural next step. I would be glad to cooperate.

  9. Hello Lilt, hope you doing well? I & jerusha ( female from south africa) have planned for a trip to EBC with the three passes trek. 10. Same idea as you. I will arrive on November. 11th and fly back on dec.10th. I am 66, and have been on some high mountains, last year up to 5800m

  11. I am planning to start Three Passe Trek anticlockwise from Lukla on 8 November, and hope to complete the trek by the the 25th Nov.

This is my first trek in Nepal, but I have hiked in New Zealand and Europe for a number of years. It would be great to have the reassurance of a trekking partner just in case !

    Might see you out there.

  12. Hello Lily,

I’m landing in KTM on Nov 15th, hoping to start the trek the next day. I plan to hike most of the “side trips” (EBC, Kala Patthar, Chukhung Ri, Gokyo Ri, …). All in all, and on paper :), it should take 17-19 days, so ending on 6-8th Dec in Lukla.

I’m a 34y male in great shape. I hiked a 12000m D+, 185km trail in 8 days in August while sleeping in a tent, but altitude was around 2000m. The big question mark for me here would be altitude (I’ve included 2 accl days + will take proper medications).

Let me know if interested to team up.

    Romain

  13. Hey, I just came across this post and am interested in knowing what your final plans are. My partner and I are looking to do Three passes with EBC and leave in the next few days. We are experienced Canadian hikers. We are thinking of hiring on a guide if we can find people to split costs with.
