Everest Base Camp Trek

I am from Kathmandu (Nepal). I am very easy going and having positive attitude, Interested in trekking and travelling.
I have visited remote places of Nepal. I have trekked famous trekking routes like- Annpurna Circuit (Beshisahar-Manang-Thorang La Pass-Muktinath), Tilicho Lake, LangTang and Gosaikunda. Except these, I have journeyed several remote palaces of Nepal (Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, Rukum, Jajarkot…).
Currently, I intend to go Everest Base Camp Trek between September and October 2015, which is one of the most popular trekking route in the world. From Kathmandu – Jiri – Lukla – Everest Base Camp walking through in the footsteps of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary (the first climbers to reach the summit of the Mount Everest).
The trek may take about 20 days. I am not going through any trekking agents or tour organizer and not intended to hire a guide (route is well-known). I am alone. I would be happy to share this journey with interested fellow trekkers.
If you are also looking for a like-minded trekker and traveling around the same dates, if you want to know more about my plans, or if you have any suggestions and queries feel free to contact me. email: bhagawankarki@hotmail.com

  1. Hi Bhagawan
I intend to trek from Jiri to EBC leaving Kathmandu on 24 September. I intend to fly out from either Lukla or Phaplu (if the airport is open) or walk back to Jiri. I trekked the Annapurna Circuit 2 years ago and also intend to trek independently. If you are trekking at a similar time then we may be able to share the journey or part of it.

  2. Hi Phil
Your trekking plan is similar to my. The trekking route is same. About the departure date I have some condition that I should have finished the trekking by 13 October. So it is better to start on 18 September or one two day early or late.
Write me about yourself and your detail plan. My email add is below.

  3. Bhagawan, I am probably now starting on 23rd September. Do you know what the Kathmandu to Jiri road condition is now? I had heard some bridges were down and it could take 2 days to travel? Do you have current knowledge of this?

  4. Hi Phil, I asked with people of Jiri about road condition they said road is good and vehicles are running from Kathmandu to Jiri and Jiri to Shivalaya (way to Lukla) too.

    • Hi Paul
I’m arriving in Kathmandu on 21st and plan to travel to Jiri on 23rd either by fast bus or by private taxi/jeep. There are 2 of us (my son is joining me) I’ve trekked in Nepal before and I want to avoid the very slow and dangerous local bus journeys. There is supposedly a minivan that goes to Jiri about 0730 but these things you can only find about when in Kathmandu. If you have not already left for Jiri by 21st, would you be interested in joining with us the get a taxi? It is more expensive than the bus, but might be worth it.

  6. Hi Phil
I am very interested in sharing the Taxi/jeep to Jiri.
I am in contact with Bhagawan so we should be able to reduce the cost significantly as well as ape ourselves the bus journey.
I am currently in Kathmandu so lets meet up once you arrive.
I am staying at Atlantic hotel, tredevi marg, Thame

    All the best Paul
