Everest Base Camp, Imja Tse, Amphu Lapsta pass and Mera Peak

This is a challenging mountaineering, high altitude expedition for a bunch of mountaineering novices. So it is fully supported by a Sherpa leader and his crew. Arrive KTM, fly to Lukla, complete EBC trek, expedition commences in Chhukung, climb Island Peak, cross Amphu Lapsta pass, climb Mera peak, fly out from Lukla to KTM, fly out from KTM.

Mera Peak is high (6,476m), but mainly a walk up peak supported by roped sections (rated PD). Island Peak is 6,180m and PD+, with a slightly more technical approach at times. Amphu Lapsta pass (~5,800m) is the most challenging technical section, with 70 degree snow/ice climb for 40-50 metres. However, all will be achievable with the support of our highly recommended climbing Sherpa. The Everest Base Camp (EBC) section will give you the best chance of acclimatising before tackling the peaks and passes.

The dates are 15 October to 13 November 2016 (arrival in KTM – departure from KTM). The expedition section (after EBC trek) starts from Chhukung to Lukla and is with a reputable, accredited climbing Sherpa (local agency) and his crew. The EBC section is not supported, but a porter or guide can be procured and I’ve included these rough variable costs in the price range indication below.

Price is approximately USD $3,500 – $4,200 excluding international flights, tips, insurance, meals in KTM. So it includes airport pickups, internal flight, hotel in KTM, permits, porters/Sherpa, meals from Lukla to Lukla, etc. This is about as good value as it gets. You’ll get assurance on the competence of the expedition leader, given his experience and references.

I have agreed prices for 2 and 4 people and the final price is subject to the number of us on the expedition, how much equipment you need to hire and expenses on the EBC section (as mentioned above).

We are a laid back bunch, avid outdoors people, with some mountaineering experience or less.

Let me know if interested and I’m happy to discuss. I’m not taking any profit or benefits – it’s all transparent.
