Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek
I’m working on a book project that takes me to Namche Bazaar. Of course, since I’ve made it that far I want to trek into Everest, most likely by the Gokyo Lakes route. I’ve been climbing and backcountry skiing for many years, in various areas, but this will be my first time to Nepal.
I arrive in Kathmandu on May 4 and will likely spend two days there, then flying to Lukla on May 6.
I’ll walk to Namche, do a photograph that I’m going there for in the first place (and that will take only a few hours) then continue the trek. The “trip duration” I checked is flexible of course.
I’m looking for a partner, or maybe two, to join me. I’m considering going without a guide, however I’m not completely against hiring one either.
My flight out of Nepal leaves Kathmandu on May 30 so I want to be back in KTM by May 28. That should be more than enough time to do the route with sufficient acclimatization.
You can join up with me either in Kathmandu or in Namche at an agreed date, makes no difference to me. Like I say, I have about 3 to 4 hours of work in Namche, after that I’m free. If you and I traveled from Kathmandu together it would only be a short delay, and maybe it wouldn’t be any delay at all since a night in Namche is mandatory anyway.
Hope to hear from somebody that I’d enjoying spending most of May with! 😉Reply
