Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek

I am currently in Kathmandu and will be in Nepal until Christmas. This is super short notice sorry but I am really keen to do the EBC and Gokyo Lake around mid October. I did 7 days in Annapurna and LOVED it so I honestly just want to get back into the Himalayas as well as see Everest.
I am staying in a hostel in Thamel that can organise flights and guide. Guide costs will be divided by the group. The group size can go up to 5 but at the moment it is only me. I’m 18 and looking for like minded young people who want to see some beautiful scenery and have a laugh along the way. The trip will be 15 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. I am very flexible and can leave anytime between 20th oct and 28th oct. Please get in touch if you want more info!

  1. Hi Jess,
I am planning Gokyo & EBC, ready to leave anytime between 11 and 15 october.
However I would rather go with à porter than à guide.

Otherwise I am quite open to différent routes from Namche to Gokyo, either via Dole or Thame.

I am from Belgium, woman social worker, speak french English and hindi. 45 years old….now I just scared you off… but bé reasured somehow my thoughts and neurones must have had some kind of botox treatment : definitely in à much younger shape. I like to walk slow and enjoy photography on thé way though I can go for hours in a row with no problems.

Did Annapurnas circuit in 2015, and was in Ladakh this summer.

Let me know if you wanna meet to see if our plans, schedules could match.
Otherwise, enjoy your trek and stay safe

    • Hi Charly! Thanks for getting in touch. I have a commitment at an orphanage until the 15th so the earliest is the 16th. However I would prefer to leave around the 18th in order to organise permits etc. If you can wait till 17th/18th then I would love to trek with you. Let me know!

  2. Hello Jess,
No problem for me : I could postpone my departure for two days, so 17 oct would be fine.
I would really be happy to enjoy this trek with you and would lové to exchange about our respectives volonteering work as well.
I am on a thight budget but will treat me with à porter this time. Did thé trek back in 2008 solo and regret thé weight on my shoulder soon after Namche Bazaar.
If your work at thé orphanage leave you some spare time, do you wanna meet to discuss about itinetary and things?
Perhaps KEEP would be à good place to meet? Or I Can visit you at your guest house any time convenient for you. I am staying in Paknajol, close by Thamel, so it’s not à problem. Let me know, Charly

  3. Hi Jess,

$40 for a guide seems extremely expensive, there are guides offering their services for $18-$25 range.

  4. Hi Ryan. Thank you so much!! This is my first time hiring a guide so tips like this are very valuable thank you.

    • No Problem, glad to be at help..

  5. Hi Jess!
I’ve just finished the round Annapurna trek, and i’m also looking for partners for EBC. I’ll PM you 🙂

  6. Hi Jess, are you still planning a trek? I’m in Kathmandu and have been making plans for EBC, looking to start some time next week. I have found a guide that has offered a reasonable rate but have also been considering going without one. I would be interested to hear what your current plans are ✌ Tracy
