EBC/Gokyo/3 passes
Hey
I am looking to hike some or all of the 3 passes trek starting early May. I technically have around a month for this trek but will have been in Nepal since early March and will hopefully have done Annapurna Base Camp trek by this point, so I’m quite keen to spend more time in the higher hills rather than walking in from Jiri etc. I’m not looking to hire a guide unless it’s absolutely necessary as I don’t have the budget. I’ve also completed the Annapurna Circuit independently with a partner a few years ago.
I’m interested in whether anyone else has plans for this area in early May and what they are?
Thanks so much 🙂 Happy planning.

Hello Emma! I am not making all these 3 passes trek but planning to go through the Gokyo Valley and coming back by the Renjo La pass. From Lukla that should be an itinerary about 13 days long. Here should be my itinerary with trekking time (Left are dates since I am planning to begin on May 1rst.). Let me know if this is something you might want to do. I could also come back from Cho La Pass but I am not planning to do the whole 3 Passes trail since I will not have enough time for this 21 Day trek!

Hi Emma, Mathieu I’m planning to trek in the same area than you (3passes, Gokyo, EBC) but as I will trek in Annapurna before, I can’t be in Lukla before the 4th of May so let me know if by any chance you want to start your trip later.
Cheers
Hi Emma, your plan is really similar if not identical to mine, I think it could be a good fit.
I wanna do the Three passes trek, all 3 if possible. I’ve decided not to take a guide because of price, like you. I am searching for people essentially because I have no experience in treks and I think it would be more reasonable not to be alone, at least for the passes. Not to mention the fact that I like people
My itinerary is not fixed as I am still in research for information, but I’ve seen a pretty standard itinerary as described by a lot of people.
Except from the fact that I’m gonna take my time and take more pauses, I want to do my trek in approximately 3 weeks, 21 days is perfect. I have read a lot that it is better to decide your itinerary on a daily basis, for when to take a pause. I’m really open to suggestion and I’m really flexible on everything.
Are you planing on flying from Katmandu to Lukla?
I really think our plans would be compatible and I really look forward to hear from you as it would reassure me a bit to share my trek with somebody.
Hey!! I am also doing Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek starting from 2nd May from Lukla. I am doing this alone without any guide or porter. Maybe we can tag along ☺
