EBC – Three Passes Trek Nepal

About us:
(me: Delyan Peyankov and my girlfriend: Zhana Karneva) are both Bulgarians, living in the Netherelands, mountain enthusiast with decent mountain experience. We are mostly trekking the high Bulgarian mountains (at around 3000m) in both summer and winter, and we also have some trekking experience on similar altitudes in the Alps, Alaska and Iceland. To put a bit more details for me I have also done some semi-alpine treks during the winter. We are both physically fit and endure, but we are not athlete-like. However, so far we haven’t had any high altitude trekking experience, therefore acclimatization will be a priority for the first few days.

About our trip:
We have limited time in Nepal: arrive on 8th Oct (8am), fly out to EU on 30th October (3pm).
We plan to do the EBC, including 3 High Passes trek. I have done quite a bit of research and I have managed to come up with a plan for 18 days (the average is between 17-21). Of course I am well aware of the risks trying to stick to a rigid plan especially for the High passes, therefore the bellow itinerary is flexible to a big extend, depending on how we progress. We plan to spend the average ammout of money needed for indi-travalers and will not go into luxorious expenses…reasonable priced teahouses, average foor, not a lot of alchohol.

We are also considering to book a guide-porter, ideally further down the trek (e.g. Namche), or even better to rent one only for the passes. We don’t exclude the possiblity to hire a guide from Kathmandu or not to hire a guide at all. Thigs here are really flexible.

  1. Hey Deylan and Zhana! I will be doing the same trek but it looks like my schedule is a day faster because I’m not taking a rest day at Digboche. Maybe we could trek a few days – or if you wanted to skip that rest day if your’e feeling ok I would love to trek with you to avoid going over the passes alone. – Koly
