EBC- Gokyo/ Island peak in May

Hi there,

I am soon leaving for a month’s trekking in Nepal before I go back to Europe. This will be my first time in Nepal and I am looking for trekking/ climbing partners for the Everest Base Camp trail. On the way, I wish to climb the Island peak (6183 m, PD+) depending on weather conditions and the company I’ve got as I am not aiming to hire a guide, it’s an independent trek.

My flights are booked, I am flying to Kathmandu on 11th May and give myself max 1 month for trekking and traveling. I would be happy to share this trip with some like-minded people. If anyone has similar plans and looking for partners then drop me a message!

cheers,
Neha 🙂

*Updates: trek start on 16h from Lukla.

  1. Hey Neha,

I am also planning to do EBC in May. I am flying in KTM on the 14th and staying maybe two days in town before leaving for the trek as the monsoon season is approaching and May is probably the last month to do this trek. It is also my first time in Nepal and I think trekking is always better when the steps are shared

  2. How long are you planning to stay in Nepal ?

  3. Hi Lydiane, I’ve sent u a message please check for details 🙂

  4. Still looking for company? I am arriving in Nepal tonight and would be interested in EBC.

  5. Hi, I’m looking at doing the EBC trek around the same time as yourself Neha but am looking to make the trip from Jiri rather that fly straight to Lukla, so its about 7 days I believe to trek in From Jiri and join up with the main trail. The fantastic advantages of this route are not only do you follow in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary but the trail is a lot lot less crowded compared to the crowds on the EBC trek and you are well acclimatised to the altitude by the time you join the EBC trail.

Lonely planet states that the trek from Jiri gives you the opportunity to experience the ‘real’ nepal; the scenery in this area is beautiful, the lodges quiet and the people friendly. All in all its a 20-25 day trek from Jiri to EBC anf the to Lukla to fly back to Kathmandu… Let me know what you think?

  6. I’m really interested in joining your trip – still possible?
