Cordillera Huayhuash Circuit

I’ve been reading about the Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru, and I would love to trek the circuit. I’m looking for someone to share the planning and experience with (and the cost of a guide and mules if we conclude that it is necessary) – it looks like a truly amazing hike!!

I’ll be in Brazil before the hike, and haven’t booked flights in/out of Peru yet – but I plan on flying in to Lima the 8th of April. From Lima one need to travel by bus to Huaraz, the nearest city for the start of the Huayhuash Circuit, which is possible with an overnight bus leaving daily from Lima. I therefore plan on leaving Lima the 8th, arriving in Huaraz early the 9th. A few acclimatisation days in Huaraz is necessary, so I think starting the trek the 11th would be great.

I have 10 days for the actual trek, as i need to be back in Lima the 21st 🙂

Anyone interested?
I haven’t set a budget, as this of course will depend on whether or not it is necessary to hire a guide and mules.

I’m also open for other – preferably high altitude – treks in the same time frame in either Peru, Bolivia or Chile! I’ll be in Brazil before hiking, and haven’t booked flights from there yet:)

  1. Let me arrange your trekking permit and a guide (If you prefer) need!
Sharing a guide won’t hurt, it will only help.
I’ve been trying to bridge the need of a trusted and fun guide for a trekkers to make their trekking more comfortable, more enjoyable.
I provide guides with different personalities, different interests.
All I need to know is your preference in a guide. And i’ll run like a wind to find it for you.
I am a guide myself and a trekker as well. I’ve been a guide myself for years and i’ve hired a guide in Julian Alps. So, I think I understand the importance of a good companionship, good team for a comfortable journey.

  3. Hello! I’m in the process of planning a trip to Peru in April and I’d love to do this trek! I have trekked the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal last spring without guides. I’d love to try to make our dates coordinate!

  4. Hi Molly,

I already booked the huayhuash trek for 8th May (10 days for 600$). let me know if you want to join.
also i am looking for partners for the santa cruz trek around 2nd May. will be arriving huaraz around the 28th april

    • Hi Shay,

Who did you book it through? I might be interested in the Santa Cruz trek as well, I’m still researching my options 🙂

  5. Hi Molly,
For the Santacruz i used Perubergsport through Edgar
its 120$ for the 4 days.
I think you can get cheaper once in Huaraz but I don’t have much time and cheaper means you are cutting on the equipment / guide quality I don’t mind spending abit this trip to feel comfortable.

    • For the santacruz I am departing on 3rd May.
