Annapurna Circuit Trek

UPDATE: an intended partner was recently involved in a rather serious accident and unfortunately can no longer join our group. With that being said, we are looking for a male to join our group, so our other male will not be stuck with a bunch of girls πŸ™‚

Hi everyone! My name is Meghan… I am 23, and from the US. and I have never visited Nepal, or Asia for that matter, nor have I gone on a trek to this extent. I am certain that I would love some fellow trekkers to enjoy this experience with. I am unsure yet of whether I would want to hire a guide; it would be nice to hire someone to support the local economy and splitting the cost would be reasonable.
I am fairly fit, but not accustomed to such altitudes; It’s hard for me to say how long I intend to make the trip, but I do plan to make it somewhat leisurely (3 weeks-ish).
Although a year away, it is really difficult at times to contain my excitement for the natural beauty of Nepal. I look forward to interacting with locals, trying new food, and generally learning about Nepal culture (very much so- my undergrad was in cultural anthropology!) .
As this is a year away, my plans are still loose. I wanted to go ahead and make a post and hopefully I can find some fellow trekkers within the next year πŸ™‚

update: It’s only HALF a year away now!! πŸ˜€

another update: it looks like I will begin the trek on October 5th, give or take one day.

  1. hi meghan

i quite interest for this, i have been to EBC, i do prefer to get a guide and porter, i am slow and steady hiker.

    from Malaysia

    • Hi Harendran! The more reading I’ve done makes me lean towards a guide and porter as well. Closer to time we should certainly get in touch,.. Thanks for the comment.

  2. Hi Meghan! It looks like we’re in the same position and mind frame heading into the trek next year I would love to have a chat about what your plans are and see if we’re on the same page (probably a bit early to start planning in depth but I am far too excited). Let me know if you’re keen!

    • Hey Stephanie! I feel the same & am very keen haha… I will direct message you πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Megan, earlier I was planning on doing it around April but it seems to me that I won’t be able to make it. So I am postponing it to October. I would have preferred going solo but a trek this long demands you to have a partner. So, if it’s alright, I would like to tag along.

    • Hi Siddhartha! Yeah it would be great. I think I will go with a small group, around 3 people. You are more than welcome to join but so you know, whoever will be trekking with me will be moderate speed as I am not use to such altitudes πŸ™‚ a trek like this certainly demands partners. If you like we can get back to one another in a few months to check up at see if plans are still intact for each of us. Thanks for the comment!

  4. Thanks for responding Mehgan, sounds good and lets talk about it in a while.

  6. Hey Meghan

I plan to be there the whole month of October. I have never been before and would like to share this experience with some new people from around the globe. I am pretty fit so that’s never really a problem ( I hope ) πŸ™‚ My dates are flexible either side of October also.

    • If all goes accordingly, I plan to be there for the whole month as well and a few days into November. And great! As I told the people above, we should get in contact again closer to time πŸ™‚ I think a small group seems like a great idea!

  7. Hi Meghan,

I’m also looking to trek Annapurna Circuit starting either on the 1st or the 8th of Oct, and looking for a partner and/or a group. I’m from Kathmandu so my dates are pretty flexible. Do keep me in the loop.

    • Hello Sweta, sorry for such a late response. So far I found a girl and a guy to join and we are settled for October 5th, give or take a day if anything sets us back/forward when the time comes.
You’re from Kathmandu? Have you done the ACT before?
      Thanks for the comment! πŸ™‚

  8. I also have the entire month of October to spend Trekking. I have never been to Nepal either but am most looking forward to it. Please keep me in mind as well as I would love to share this experience with people. I have no deadlines as I will be in Nepal as of August 1 and have no set departure date.

    • Hi Curtis! Myself and two other Trekkers have decided we will set out October 5th, would this work for you or is it later than you planned? If it is okay and you are still looking for fellow trekkers, you are welcome to join our tiny group!

  9. Hello!

I’m doing EBC in September and hope to do the Annapurna Circuit in October. Looking for a group of trekking buddies – hit me up if you’re interested.

    • Hi Tim! So far I have found 2 buddies to join me and we plan to start right around October 5th. None of us are too experienced and we plan to take it easy, so let us know if that sounds okay for you!

  10. Heyy!
I want to join a group of people for trekking, if you want to just ping me and I would love to join you. πŸ™‚

    • Okay Pratik, will do!

  11. I’ll be in Nepal in October and I plan on doing ACT as well, so hit me me up if you still plan on going!

    • Hey Daga, I plan to follow through with the trek and begin right around October 5th. So far I have found 2 fellow travelers who are sure they will probably join me. If this is around the time you were thinking about starting, I’m sure you could join our little group!

  12. Hi,
I am interested in doing the Annapurna Circuit trek in Oct’16.
I have done many Himalayan treks, but am not a very fast trekker. I prefer going at a steady pace so that I enjoy the surroundings and views.
Hope we can form a team of 4-5 people.

    • Hello Sanjoy! So far I have found 2 people who are confident they can join me to begin the trek around October 5th. I’ve gotten a large number of responses on this post with other people who seem to be interested as well, so I’m unsure how large the group will end up being.
Of the 3 of us, none of us have trekked in the Himalayas, and we certainly plan to move somewhat slow. Steady and enjoying it sounds right to me.
Do you know what day you plan to start or is any time in October fine?

  13. Hi Meghan

I am fine with starting around 5th Oct. Will message you my contact details.

  14. Hi Meghan,

Room for one more? Your planned timing matches mine and I’m really keen on a Nepali trek! Like you I’m fairly fit, but I’m very much a novice trekker, who will want to take it slow and steady and enjoy the ride.

    • I will inbox you πŸ™‚

  15. Hi Meghan.

To add to your list of interested parties, I also would like to join if there’s room in your group.

I’m flexible on departure as I will be arriving in Kathmandu mid to late September.

    • Sending you a personal message now!

  16. Hey!
I was also really interested in joining this group. I’m not an experienced trekker so the slower pace suits me perfectly. Is there room for me to join too? πŸ™‚

    • I think there may be! I will inbox you!

  17. Hi there,

Looks like a pretty large group already. I’m planning to start early Oct (about your proposed date of 5th Oct looks fine, too), and do a side trip to Tilicho lake. I’m not so used to the 4,000m altitude so slow and steady sounds good. If you don’t mind, may I have a bit more details on the plan if you’ve firmed it up already? If our plans jive and your group is OK with it, I’d like to join in. Thanks!

  18. If there is still space I want to join in .. I have been to Nepal couple of time and have a good connection over there .. I lived in Atlanta now moved to India

  19. Hi Megan!
I’m planning to visit Nepal this fall and am searching for a hiking tour and/of group to go hiking with in the beginning of Oktober. Am considering the Annapurna Circuit Trek, and getting more excited about it every day.

I might be up to join your group. Could you let me know more about the latest status of your plans?:) Greetings from Holland!

  20. You don’t need a guide on this trek. It is quite straightforward and now that we all have phones with the maps and gps. If you want to support local economy (which you are doing anyway through hotels and etc.) hire a porter. He can help you with the backpack now and then, but guide would be really a waste of money.

  21. Hi! I’ll be on my own in Nepal and planning to do the Annapurna Circuit on more or less that same dates. I’d be happy to join your team πŸ™‚
No guides, no porter, lots of peace, nature, books and smiles.
