Annapurna Circuit Trek
Hello. I am Nedyalko from Bulgaria (currently living in London). I’m going to Nepal between 17th of March and 2nd of April and I am currently planning to hike part of the Annapurna Circuit (depending on how much I can do for that time). One of my biggest hobbies is photography and that will be my main goal there (hopefully often waking up for sunrise shots). I’m wondering at the moment whether I should get a guide and since I found this site it might be a better idea to just find trekking buddies.
Here is my preliminary plan. It tends to change a lot in the recent days, as I learn about new places to visit. My flights are already booked, so that part is fixed:
17 Mar – arrive in Kathmandu in the afternoon
18 Mar – get permit and buy some cheap non-essential gear which I’m missing. Then latest around noon get a bus to Besisahar. I don’t know if this is doable, but I read somewhere it is, so I’m hoping this is an option.
19 Mar – take a jeep from Besisahar to Tal. Initially, I wanted to go to Chame, but I just learned that the road is really scary in that part.
20 Mar – hike from Tal to Chame (2710m)
21 Mar – hike from Chame to Upper Pisang and then to Ghyaru (3600m). Most books suggest to go to Upper Pisang, but I think the view is amazing and I really want to try sleeping there and maybe trying to take night astro shot and early morning sunrise shot. The view from Ghyaru is what convinced me to do the AC instead of ABC.
22 Mar – hike from Ghyaru to Manang (3540m)
23 Mar – additional day in the Manang area. I really what to take pictures at Ice Lake and/or Gangapurna Lake
24 Mar – hike from Manang to Letdar (4230m)
25 Mar – hike from Letdar to High Camp (4850m)
26 Mar – High Camp -> Thorung La -> Muktinath
27 Mar – jeep from Muktinath to Jomsom and then to Tatopani
28 Mar – hike from Tatopani to Ghorepani
29 Mar – sunrise at Poon Hill and then hike to Naya Pul and take a bus/jeep to Pokhara
30 Mar – day or at least morning in Pokhara. Views around Phewa Tal and one of the top pictures I want to take while in Nepal
31 Mar – take a bus from Pokhara to Kathmandu
1 Apr – day in Kathmandu. Buffer day which I might spend in the mountains (especially around Muktinath and Kagbeni, which are skipped for Poon Hill in the plan).
2 Apr – fly to London
I’m not sure if this plan is not too rushed, but I even hope to be able to include more things like Kageni or even side trip to Tilicho. If I cannot stick with the plan, I can also take a bus from Jomson directly to Pokhara and save at least a few days. In the next days, I will probably be researching for Tilicho and Kagbeni to see if I want to try one of them instead of Poon Hill.
