Annapurna Circuit Trek

I arrive in Nepal on the 25th April and was thinking of setting off on the circuit on 29th April. I completed a few short (4-5 days) high altitude treks in south america and am keen to do something a bit more involved. Ive read mixed reports as to whether a guide is really required for this trek. I would attempt it with someone / some people who have more solo trekking experience than I do.

  1. You can do this trek without guide since you’ll meet many people on the way. But if it’s your first trek in Nepal then I recommend a guide which you can also share with other partners if you find.
Let me know if I could help you arrange your trekking permit and a guide (If you prefer) need!
Sharing a guide won’t hurt, it will only help.
I provide guides with different personalities, different nature.
All I need to know is your preference in a guide.
I am a guide myself and a trekker as well. I’ve been a guide and i’ve hired a guide, too. So I think I understand the importance of a good companionship, good team.

    • What would be price of the guide?

  2. $ 20 a day for an English speaking guide. Generally, a great untold local stories start to unfold with an informative guide.
A great way to reduce the cost is by sharing a guide. In case of a solo travel, cost might go down.

We are looking for a group who can go with this on similar itinerary, and during late April or month of May.

We are travelling from Singapore, and looking for 2 or 3 people to join us.

Both of us have some experience in trekking and will be doing in a slow/moderate pace.

Please contact me if you can join us during these dates.

    • Hi there

I’m also heading to Annapurna, and was looking at starting the circuit 28, 29 or 30th May, and will spend a few weeks.
I’m a Kiwi, by living in Malaysia.
Would love to connect and hear more about what you have planned.
      Thanks, Clare

  6. Hi Richard,
Are you still heading to Annapurna these dates?
I also am looking to set off 28th, 29th or 30th April.
Have climbed Kilimanjaro, and by the time I get to Annapurna, I would have been hiking for a few weeks in other areas of Nepal.
    Would be great to connect,
    Clare 🙂

    • Hi All,

For some reason I havent been receiving notifications on these replies! Got a private message from Nick the other day that has brought me back to the site. I ended up copping out and joining an organised tour (I know.. not the way to do it!) Looks like you have a few of you all looking to go at the same time though so I hope you can make it work. Ill be in KTM from 25th – 29th if anyone fancies meeting up for some local sight seeing / beers. Peace out! (I have sorted my emails so I get these notifications now also!(

    • Hi Richard, Clare and others. I am looking to do Annapurna Circuit in the next days. I also heard from friends a guide is not necessary, but am keen to set off with others. I am flexible with days and routes and don’t mind a good pace of hiking. I am in Pokhara now.

  7. Hey Clare, Richard, and all,
I’m also looking to do the Annapurna Circuit and add on Nar-Phu Valley. I’ll also have been in Nepal for the past two weeks (Mustang) and am interested in starting from Jomsom on April 27 or 28. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and plans.

    • Hi Nick I’m interested in heading to Nar-Phu in late April. But just to confirm are you planning to go “backwards” over the Thorung La starting in Jomsom going to Manang? It’s a lot tougher from this direction very steep and long accent. Cheers, Micah

  8. Hi – I’m also interested if you are still organising this – I am already in Nepal and will be staying until 1 June – I am doing a Trek in the Everest Region from 29 March – 17 April.
