Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Hey guys!

I’m going to stay 6 weeks in Nepal next march/april for a 4-week-medical internship in Kathmandu. My internship starts on 13th March, so thats the time I’ve got to be in Kathmandu.
So the trek would start on 03rd March in Pokhara, I’m planning to get there on 02nd March. After all I’ve read an heard, the trek seems to be easy to do without a guide or porter. Stage-planning is flexible of course, but unfortunately my dates are fixed. I’m arriving in Kathmandu on 01st March, so it’s also possible to meet in Kathmandu and travel together to Pokhara on 2nd March.

Would be great, to find someone to join, who has got a quite good fitness-level, but actually I’m not planning to do a ABC-Race, because I heard, there are some nice views and mountains around 😉 Besides, your age isn’t important for me at all, I hope, mine isn’t a problem for you as well!

Some words about myself: I’m a 22 years old medical student from Freiburg (Germany). I’m doing lots of sports (triathlon) here, so I think it should be no problem, although it’s the first time in Nepal for me. But I’ve already been hiking and trekking a lot in Europe. I’m really looking forward to meet some interesting people to trek and to enjoy the (hopefully) fantastic views with!

Looking forward to your answers

  1. Hi Stephan,

I am arriving on March 1 in Kathmandu and will return to Germany on March 12, 2016. I will be there for vacation and your itinerary and schedule fits quite well with my initial plans.

My name is Sang Hyo (pronounced like Sanyo), 31, male and I am working as an Industrial Engineer for German automotive company in Stuttgart. 😉 I like hiking and I exercise regularly. I think your hiking and trekking style is fine for me! I am more a faster paced hiker and therefore it should be alright. Would be great if we can to the trekking trip together!

    • Hi Sang!
Yes, it seems like the dates fit pretty good! Would be great to do the trip together! Are you flying to Kathmandu from Frankfurt? Because then I wouldn’t wonder, if we’ll be sitting in the same airplane 😀
I think for further communication it would be easier to write via e-mail…If you want to we could also meet in Stuttgart or somewhere else before our trip to talk about the itinerary and other stuff.

  2. Hi Stephan & Sang,

I’m also interested in joining in! An independent trip, especially a teahouse trek like ABC I think one can do without any problem. 🙂 The dates fit pretty well with my schedule as well, I was planning on leaving for Nepal some time late Feb or early March.
One thing about ABC: I’ve heard that they had a lot of road construction at Annapurna and now basically you have to share the trail with cars (at least for AC, not sure if that counts for ABC as well).

In any case, It’d be great to hear from you! I’m 25 and from Munich.

    • Hey Tobias!
Sang Hyo already replied to you, I think we could talk about the details via e-mail.

  3. Hi, I am still new to this group.. I will be travelling to nepal on the 29 February arriving at Kathmandu and was planning to do some tracking in the Annapurna region because i only have 2 weeks and a half in nepal before going to india so would like also to visit around. How long are you planning to do the trekking in days.

    • Hey Mark!
Trekking will start on 03rd of march in Pokhara. Then 9 days to do the ABC Trek and returning to Pokhara on 11th of march. It is possible to do the trek in 8 days, but I think 9 days is more comfortable. We’ll drive to Pokhara on 02nd of march by tourist bus. Does this fit to your plans?

  4. Hi Guys,

I’m also interested in joining maybe! I’m arrived ten days ago in Nepal, but I’m going to be volunteering in Pokhara until the end of February. After that I was planning to do the ABC trek. Is it still possible to join?

  5. Hi Stephan!
Planning to do the same trek on the same dates.
I m finishing volunteering in Melamchi on 27th of feb. My physical condition is pretty good but not perfect I guess.
How many people are you going with ?
    Thanks 🙂

  6. Hi Stephan. I just arrived in kathmandu and your trek seems to be perfect match for my plans. If you still have room for one more in your group it would be great if I could join in. I’m in a good physical condition and I’m sure I can do the trek with a faster phase too.
