Your Guide

My name is Arun Karki and I am from Kathmandu, Nepal. I was educated as engineer, but my interest and passion for travelling took me in this field and I have been working as a trekking guide since 2006.

I have done several treks with both large and small groups and private group treks as well. Comparatively, I have done less trekking than other trekking guides but I believe my experience is enough for your satisfaction.

I love travelling and thus, guiding is not just work but it's my hobby. I love sharing cultural, traditional and social information along the way if that's something you're interested in.

I'm fluent in English, co-operative and helpful. Nepal is very wide in culture, tradition and natural splendor, but i can decrease its width of your curiosity!

Regards,

Arun karki

Overview

  • Spectacular views of Ganesh and Manaslu mountains, Refreshing bath in the natural hot spring, Rachhen Gumba, Local life and Culture, 1905m in Lhokpa to over 5093m at Ngula Dhojhyang pass, of Mt Manaslu, eighth highest mountain in the world, are marvelous and close, ‘Yeti’ has been reportedly seen in this remote land.

Tsum Valley Trekking a steep trail takes us across the glorious Himalayan Valley, an undiscovered land of valley located in the northern Gorkha a remote Nepal. Tsum valley trekking is an off-the-beaten route in Nepal managed trekking by me. Realizing the potentiality, this area is opened by the Nepalese government for tourists very recently. The trials are strewn with artistic chortens and lined with Mani walls made of thousands of stone slabs carved with drawings of deities and inscribed with prayers. It is culturally fascinating with strong continuing links to Tibet in the upper Buri Gandaki (called Nupri ‘the western mountains’) and the Tsum Valley, and even has the Larkya La (5100m) as a challenge. The views of Mt Manaslu, eighth highest mountain in the world, are marvelous and close. The hidden valley is surrounded by the Bouddha Himal and Himal chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south & Sringi Himal to North.

The ‘Abominable Snowman ‘ or ‘Yeti’ has been reportedly seen in this remote land, the Tsum Valley is also home to a pilgrimage route as it is believed that the great Buddhist Guru Milarepa had once meditated in the mountain caves of this valley. Through Nepal-Eco-Adventure we also get to visit the famous natural hot springs in Tatopani during trek. It is believed that the hot water of this spring cure any kind of skin infection. Spectacular views of Ganesh and Manaslu mountains will be your lifetime experience from this region of Nepal. ‘Tsum’ comes from the Tibetan word ‘Tsombo’, which means vivid. Thus we can experience the Tibetan taste in the Nepalese culture and tradition in this region. The remote Tsum Valley side-trip should not be missed. In comparison to all trips to Nepal this is the absolute highlight, with strong, friendly, hospitable people, a living Buddhist culture and untouched wildlife because of Buddhist prohibitions on hunting.

Tsum Valley is believed to be one of Buddhism’s sacred hidden valleys, and Tsum valley trekking holds important old monasteries of remote villages. For centuries, people here have been depended on subsistence agriculture, grazing herds of yak, and small trade too. The trails curve past square chores and piles of stones hand-carved with Buddhist prayers and deities. Tsum Valley trekking region is well-preserved, culturally and environmentally highlighted with breathtaking beauty and infinite mountains view. Traditionally, Tsum valley was a distinct geographical area called ‘Tsum Tso Chucksums’, which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory. People in Tsum Valley still practice polyandry system and they have their own unique culture, tradition, & dialect. They celebrate unique festival like Lhosar, Dhacyhang, Saka Dawa, Faning & others. Many residents of this valley report that they have seen or found the signs of Mehti, commonly referred as the ‘Yeti’ or ‘Abominable Snowman’.

As an added feature to the trip through me, you will be visiting with Buddhist lama, lama will teach us about the basics of Buddhism, help coordinate a special blessing ceremony at one of the area monasteries, lead optional brief meditation sessions for interested clients. The altitude of Tsum Valley Trekking varies from 1905m in Lhokpa to over 5093m at Ngula Dhojhyang pass on the Tibatan border.
