Planning

  1. Timmy Chan

    Hi.
I will be arriving at Katmandu by flight on 17 July at 1130am and planning to go straight to Pokhara.
Would like to do the Poon Hill track. I am a lone traveler.
Tracking can start from 18 July. I can track alone with the guide or join up with 1 or 2 other travelers.
Please quote the guide fees and recommended itinerary.
I need to be back to Katmandu by Friday night of 25 July.
    Thanks

    • Hi Timmy,

The above quote for $240 includes guide and porter. We’ll ask Rajkumar for a quote just for the guide. 5 days is a good length given your time in Nepal.

      Best,
      Alex

    • Dear Timmy Chan,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Poonhill trek guide service. Please see the details given below.

      About the cost for guide:
If you are willing to do this trek only with guide, it will cost you USD $192 in total.

      Cost covers:
      English speaking trekking guide.
Necessary trekking permits (ACAP and TIMS card)
Pokhara to Nayapul to Pokhara transfer by bus.

      Additional info:
If you are arriving on 17th 11:30 AM, it is possible to travel to Pokhara on same day but there are no regular tourist buses in the afternoon to go to Pokhara so you must travel by a private car/ flight or local buses. (But traveling with local bus is not recommended).

Also note that we need to arrange trekking permit on 17th afternoon after your arrival in Kathmandu so I think you better spend a night in Kathmandu (on 17th) and travel to Pokhara on 18th morning by tourist bus which leaves at 7:00 AM in the morning.

      Think about this itineraries:

      Option 01:
17 JULY: Arrival in Kathmandu – arrange permits. Overnight Kathmandu.
18 JULY: Travel to Pokhara. Overnight Pokhara.
      19 JULY: Trekking day 01.
      20 JULY: Trekking day 02.
      21 JULY: Trekking day 03.
      22 JULY: Trekking day 04.
23 JULY: Trekking day 05. Drive back to Pokhara. Oovernight Pokhara.
24 JULY: Travel back to Kathmandu by tourist bus.
25 JULY: Free time in Kathmandu. End of the package.

      Option 02:
17 JULY: Arrival in Kathmandu – arrange permits – travel to Pokhara by car.
      18 JULY: Trekking day 01.
      19 JULY: Trekking day 02.
      20 JULY: Trekking day 03.
      21 JULY: Trekking day 04.
22 JULY: Trekking day 05. Drive back to Pokhara. Oovernight Pokhara.
23 JULY: Free time around Pokhara.
24 JULY: Travel back to Kathmandu by tourist bus.
25 JULY: Free day in Kathmandu. End of the package.

Please note that if you take 2nd option, you must hire a private car to travel to Pokhara and it will cost you USD $110.

Think about the options and if you have any question, you can post your message here anytime.

      Thank you.

      Rajkumar

  2. Hi Rajkumar,
I’m interested on doing this trekk the first week of September. I have planned to arrive the 30th of August to Pokhara from Kathmandú and will be available until the 5th of September. I have to be in Kathmandú the 5th at night as the 6th I’ll take my flight back. Are you available that date?
Otherwise I could switch the order of my tryp and couls also do it from the 25th of August until the 29th.
It would be great to do it with more people so it could be a bit cheaper.
    Thanks
    María

Can I do poon hill trek within 3 days and how much it would cost

    • Dear Eslam,

Thank you for your inquiry. It is possible to do this trek within 3 days of time but trekking days will be long and we must take local transport from Ghandruk or another village near by.
