Sujoy Das has been trekking and photographing in the Himalayas for more than thirty years. His photographs and essays have been featured in leading magazines worldwide like The Washington Post, Lonely Planet, The Outdoor Journal, Lifeforce Magazine, APA Guides, Outlook Traveller, India Today Travel Plus, Frontline, The Telegraph, Times of India Crest, India Magazine, Frontline, Mint Lounge, Hindu Business Line etc. He is the joint author of Sikkim- A Travellers Guide and Lonely Planet - Nepal for the Indian Traveller

He leads treks and photo workshops under the banner of South Col Expeditions www.southcol.com and every single trek has been led by him personally Some of the areas where South Col runs treks are Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Mustang and Manaslu in Nepal. In India, Ladakh and Sikkim are favoured destinations.

He has a deep interest in the history of Everest and the Sherpa community and has been asked to speak at Kolkata and Delhi by The Himalayan Club on this subject.

He is currently working on a book of photographs on the Nepal Himalaya and organizing treks and photo workshops as a part of South Col Expeditions.

Overview

South Col Expeditions will revisit Ladakh in July 2016 trek the Markha Valley. Sculpted canyons and fantastic rock formations, medieval villages, Buddhist gompas and snow-peaks. This is a full service trek with tents, cook, meals, ponies and ponyman support! Prepare for one of the finest trekking experiences in the Himalayas with gourmet meals every day and excellent hotels in Leh before and after the trek!

Cost USD 1000 Dates 15th July to 24th July 2016
Costs include:
Transfer by four wheel drive vehicle from Leh to Chilling ( start of trek) and pickup from Shang Sumdo to Leh at the end of the trek.
One day monastery visits around Leh – Shey, Thikse, Hemis etc. on day 2 in a private vehicle
Three nights accommodation in Leh on twin sharing basis in a good standard hotel.
All accommodation in tents and meals on trek for seven days ( day 3 to day 9) as per itinerary; breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Cost of guides/cook/helper/ponyman and ponies as needed for the trek.

Flight Costs from home country to Leh and back.
All meals in Leh not covered.
Airport taxes if any.
Client travel and medical insurance of any kind. Emergency evacuation costs if needed.
