About Dawa
I hail from Rolwaling in Nepal, and have been working in the tourism field for over eight years now. In spring 2012, I had the honour to climb Mt. Everest, my claim to fame being using a very old style pick axe. My next expedition coming up is Cho-Oyu and K2 this year, and if successful, will make it three 8000+ peaks.
I love the mountains, does not matter where in the world, and am so happy to be able to share the beauty of the Himalaya, and of course my stories
I am an Ultra Marathon High Altitude long distance runner. In 2010, I complete the 350 km Everest Sky Race and even stood 2nd in the competition.
I love rock climbing and have won national level competitions in Nepal. I am the first Nepali female to complete the Climbing Rescue Ranger training at Mt. Rainer (USA).
I am also a sponsored Athelete of Sherpa Adventure Gear.
Hi Dawa,
We are a couple from New Zealand and are coming to Nepal in December 2014 to trek the Manaslu Circuit with a visit up the Tsum valley. We have done two unsupported treks in Nepal before (Annapurna Circuit and Three Passes in Khumbu) without porters and guides, and enjoyed ourselves so much that we are returning! We are both very fit and capable trekkers, and will not require porters – just a guide. We loved the look of your profile and you seem like a person that we will form a good friendship with. We are both ultramarathon runners, experienced in hiking and Scott has done some mountaineering before (and dreams of climbing some Himalayan peaks). We love the idea of supporting a female guide! We are interested in learning about culture, history and language while we trek and take in the beautiful scenery. Can you please let us know if you are available in December, whether you would be interested in guiding us, and what your fees are.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Adrienna and Scott,
I just messaged the agency that Dawa works for and appears she’s currently climbing Cho Oyu! Their managing directing, Raj, said he’d be in touch with you shortly…
Alex
Adrienna & Scott,
Dawa is up in the mountains at the moment, and I will relay the message to her. The main thing will be to find if she is free around about the time you are coming in.
It would be of course perfect for you to go with her, as she is also an ultrarunner and if she completes all her goals this year, she would have climbed three 8000+ mountains before you arrive in Nepal!
In the meantime, we can discuss your trip and plan out the itineraries for you. Would that be ok?
Raj
Hi Dawa,
Very impressive CV – I wish you all the best for your climbs! When you get a chance, I’d like to know if you will be interested in being my guide for the Everest Base Camp trek in spring 2015. I am flexible about the exact time. March will be great, but I can plan around your schedule. I did the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek in May/June this year and I fell in love with the Himalayas. It was my first time ever, but I can’t wait to go back. In general, I’m fit and can hike long hours; however, ascent must be very gradual, because the altitude affects me. I got very sick when we ascended 1000 m in one day! So I need enough time to acclimatize to altitude. On descent, however, I could run – and I did! It was a tremendous experience. I would like so very much to go to Everest Base Camp! However, I need a good guide. A great female guide is even better and you seem to be one. What do you think? I look forward to hearing back from you. Namaste.
