Nepal, Kathmandu

Hi guys,

Do you know by any chance where and which agency I can use in Nepal – Kathmandu to purchase trekking permits? Which agency is currently working or will be in early October this year? Also do you know if patch to Mera Peak is clear and available for tourists? Many thanks in advance!
Your help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi Joanna,

There are many agencies in Kathmandu that can help arrange your permits. Each trek requires different permits, however. Are you wanting to climb Mera Peak? (Yes, I believe it’s open.)

Yes, there are many trekking agencies in Nepal above 1000. So, you can choose one of them for your holidays in Mera peak. Any trekking agencies can issue the permits who are associated with NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association). The trek towards Mera peak is opened and good for trek and climbing as well. by the way, would you prefer to climb or just for trek till base camp?? It should be better to have few partners if you are planning to climb, it makes cheaper cost and safety as well. Thanks and good luck.

Namaste Lama,

Thank you very much for your answer! Yes, I’m planning to climb Mera Peak with my partner and one more friend at the beginning of October – 3 people in total.. It would be great if more people would be able to join us. Lama would you happen to know if we will be able to find some sleeping places in the villages on the way to Mera Peak?

Alex are you planing to visit Nepal this year?

Best wishes,

Joanna

Hi Joanna,

I wish I had plans to visit Nepal this Spring, but can’t make it at the moment; especially given how much Nepal needs tourism right now.

En route to Mera, you should be able to show up at the tea houses along the way and find accommodation, no problem. Have you already arranged a guide for Mera Peak climb, itself?

Hi Joanna
There are more than 1600 trekking company in Nepal so you can choose anyone for permit. Be sure most of the trekking company only operate trekking only so choose the right company and have a good trip in Nepal.

Hi Joanna,
I just discovered this website since I am in Nepal to do some volunteering. By the beginning of october, I’d like to go into the mountains. I am interested to do the Everest base camp trek together with the Mera peak climb. I read that you would like some more people To join your group. Is this still the case? Are you doing only the peak or also the EBC hike? And are you doing the peak without guide?? Is that possible? I’d like to hear about you!!
