Lukla to Kala Pattar Independent

Hi There
I am wanting to trek from Lukla to Kala Pattar early November (3rd). I would like to do this trek Independently but have heard that a guide is mandatory.
I have previously trek Annapurna Circuit Independantly so would like to do the same.
Do you know if this is correct (Mandatory Guide) Also if this is the case would I be able to meet a guide in Lukla? I don’t need a porter as like to carry my own equipment!
Also what would the likely cost of this be ? I don’t want to go through a company and would rather hire a local person from Lukla.
Thanks in Advance Graham

A guide is NOT mandatory. There are lots of solo trekkers I met along the way. I trekked EBC 2 weeks ago.

Yes, you can get a guide from Lukla. I paid my guide $20 per day.

Namaste,Graham,
Welcome to Nepal for Everest base camp trek,i am Hari trekking guide and organizer, yes some people doing trek independently with taking the individual TIMS card but i suggest you take one guide for your safety and friendliness because December is low and cold season so not all the lodge is opened and you can’t meet many people on the way. if you hire guide you have to take organised TIMS card from ktm from trekking Company because with individual TiMS card, you are not allow to hare guide and potter on the way so some guide staying in Lukala belong to company.i can organised your TiMS and permit and will be your guide if you want so please contrat us without hesitation, http://www.holidayhikingteam.com, hariprasadpandey@gmail.com, 9843352540
