Like minded folk for Annapurna Circuit – Upper Mustang Late March / April

I arrive in Kathmandu March 23 and hope to start the Annapurna Circuit trek shortly after. I am arriving alone and intend to avoid excess fees / porters if possible. I would also like to make it into the Upper Mustang region to visit some of the more remote villages and hikes. I would love to find like minded folk who care about the planet and cultural exploration for this journey!
Also, I have read in Lonely Planet that the license fee was decreased to 100$ from the usual 500$ for visiting the Upper Mustang region, does anyone know if this still true?

Is march a good time of year to go? Just want to walk about the place without porters go wherever the view takes me eat/drink and stay in tea-houses or whatever they do preferably with one or two or even three others? i know march has already passed maybe september-october-november
Yes if you are going for the trek March is one of the best month to go. In March, you will have amazing views during the trek. If you want to go out without a porter or a guide then apart from the restricted areas of Nepal you can enjoy the trek every where. I would suggest late October/ November for the trek.
Thanks for replying eric, I have been researching and one of the things coming up is the violence level being directed toward sole trekkers particularly female with quite a few vicious assaults. This kinda worries me maybe its better to go in a group? -[even though don like group tourism things].
Actually now wondering whether might be better to just arrive at Kathmandu and arrange to go with other travellers there and then, instead of a commercial enterprise or even as a solo travel trekker hmmm?
As much as I know and have heard of any attacks on sole trekkers. You want to do the trekking in October/ November months. At that time of the year you can find plenty of trekkers in Annapurna circuit so no need to get afraid and worried about. You can certainly avoid to go with the group and do the trek solo without any hesitation.
But if you are going to the UPper Mustang region then you need to contact to the agency.
