Family trek

Hi,
Before I set off for Manaslu-Tsum in early April I’ll be joined by my wife and 2 daughters aged 14 and 10 for a week. We’d like to go for a 3-5 day teahouse trek close-ish to KTM. We want to keep it lightweight and simple with one guide/porter and a mule as back up for the young one on longer stretches.
Any thoughts about where or recommendations about who with?

Thanks,
Ali MacKenzie

Hi Ali,

If you are thinking of taking Mule as a backup then I suggest you should try Ghandruk-Ghorepani trek. Which would be awesome. But you need to take a 6 hour drive from kathmandu to Pokhara to start the above mentioned trek.

But there is possible of doing trekking around Kathmandu but i am not sure about the exact route but it would be something like this.
Nagarkot-chisapani-Jhule. Just think about Annapurna area trek it would be worth trek if you did with your family. or If you want Kathmandu trek anyhow then i need to know the exact route and will let you know by tomorrow.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Hi Sanzin,

Thanks for the suggestion – that is a beautiful area, but with only a week I don’t want to spend 2 days travelling to and from Pokhara, so something within a couple of hours of Kathmandu would be preferable.

ok So i have one simple question regarding your tea house trekking in Kathmandu. You want trek all 4 days or just 2-4 hour of hiking around kathmandu surrounding.
If then i would suggest you to take a Hike from Sundarijal to Chisapani
1st day( 4/5 hours of hike).
2nd day Chisapani to Nagarkot
3rd day Rest at Nagarkot
4th Day Hike down to Bhaktapur from Nagarkot.

Or you 1 want 1 day Hike around Kathmandu valley.
Then other possible destinations are
1. Balthali Village Hiking
2. Lamatar Hiking
3. Jhule Hiking
4. Namobuddha Hiking
These 4 are best for 1 day hiking.

Please let me know if you have any question.
Thanks
