Does anyone have any suggestions on camping and hiking? I’ll be departing Australia from Sydney. Replies Kim Feb 06 Okay, great. Thanks for the information. I will definitely keep that in mind. imagesbyandrea Apr 20 Hi Kim, I am an expat from Australia and have spent much of my life hiking (they call it bushwalking in Australia) and photographing scenic places in Australia as well as running photography tours and workshops. If you are on the Gold Coast you may wish to do some light walking in the hinterland which is very beautiful. A really lovely spot is the Natural Bridge which is on the road to Murwillumbah from Nerang. Also popular is O’Reileys and Binna Burra both up in the Lamington National Park. There is a walk between the 2 places that I have done a few years ago. If you take the Coomera Creek circuit there are some amazing waterfalls along the way. The problem is that the track between the 2 is too long for one day hike and it’s awkward to find a camping spot (that is allowed) half way to get the best from the experience. And the National Park people change which campgrounds are permitted and ban camping in certain months of the year. Also last time I was there I was unable to get really accurate distances and maps which made it a little challenging. But it’s certainly worth the effort as the rainforest scenery and waterfalls are amazing. From O’Reileys you can walk to the main waterfall and back in a half a day which is also very pretty. Don’t hesitate to message me about any suggestions etc. I can give you a ton of walks to do around Sydney. cheers Andrea Zury74 May 08 Ohh…wow Have nice trip You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
